Many of the individuals I work with struggle with managing daily life stressors. This may be due to experiencing a traumatic childhood, recovering from a recent traumatic event, or having trouble juggling the demands placed on them. Many people find themselves stuck or “going through the motions” and are looking for validation that they are not alone as well as help with finding hope and a purpose in their lives.

I have worked with adults, adolescents, elders and children. I am comfortable working with anyone, but especially people who have experienced trauma, are in crisis, are struggling with substance use, are LGBTQ+, are Indigenous, are Autistic, have ADHD, or have Borderline Personality Disorder to name a few. While we are each unique communities, I have found myself to be well atuned to the needs and goals of my Indigenous clients as I am indigenous myself and get to practice my culture. My clients' goals usually include an increased feeling of security/safety, community integration, & relationship or interpersonal effectiveness.

The chronic pain, spacey-ness, irritability, and unrelenting pressure never seemed to stop.
I did the hard work and found a way that ends with confidence in my abilities and in my future. Now, as a psychotherapist, it’s my mission to support others who are feeling inadequate or unworthy of where they’re at in life to confidently show up for life on their terms. I’d love to help you, too.

We know how important it is to have options when you decide to reach out for support. As a group of clinicians invested in your wellbeing, we provide individual and group counseling to adults, children (ages 4+), families, and couples. If you are seeking accessible, collaborative, and affirming therapy you're in the right place. I approach therapy from a systemic lens, recognizing that many mental health challenges emerge within the context of our relationships—with others, with ourselves, and with the world around us. Grounded in my experience of therapy's transformative potential, I work alongside clients to explore growth, healing, and connection. I believe that therapy is for everyone especially when approached with openness, curiosity, and a clear sense of purpose.

My ideal client is an adult or couple looking to find support in managing daily life or adjusting to change. This could include searching for a sense of identity/belonging, experiencing a sense of loss, experiencing mental health symptoms, and coping with life's general difficulties. When meeting with someone my goal is to provide a bubble of safety and to act as a pole of trust. For each person to know that I can sit with them in the weight of what they have been carrying, and walk alongside through this path of discovery.

Chronic Pain Therapists
How does chronic pain therapy work?
Engaging with a psychotherapist to help treat chronic pain does not mean that one’s pain is all in their head. Therapy for chronic-pain patients has been shown to benefit both the mind and the body, targeting physical symptoms and increasing daily functioning. In other words, for many, addressing their emotional health through therapy affects their physical health. A therapist can help a client challenge unhelpful thoughts about pain and develop new ways to respond to it, such as distraction or calming breathing techniques. Studies have found that therapy can be as effective as surgery for certain cases of chronic pain and many doctors recommend trying psychotherapy in advance of considering invasive surgery.

What are the most effective treatment options for chronic pain?
Stress, anxiety, depression, catastrophizing, ruminating, lack of activity, and social withdrawal all make chronic pain worse. Addressing these issues, research shows, can help people gain control over their pain symptoms. Therapeutic approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy, biofeedback, and mindfulness-based stress reduction, along with greater pain-management education, have been found to help people reduce fear and disability.

Are there new treatments for chronic pain?
Many cases of chronic pain, particularly those involving back pain, remain medically unexplained. But there is evidence that changes in the brain or nervous system are caused by previous physical ailments such as tissue damage; in such cases, the brain may continue to send out pain signals despite the physical cause having healed. To aid patients under these circumstances, a recently developed treatment known as pain reprocessing therapy (PRT) is designed to help the brain “unlearn” this response. A PRT practitioner helps individuals to reduce the “threat value” of their ongoing pain signals until they can reappraise them as less threatening and fear-inducing. They also help an individual to develop new emotional regulation skills.

How long does therapy for chronic pain take?
There is no set timeline for recovery from chronic pain, especially as there may be a range of physical and psychological causes for any individual’s discomfort, but most patients should expect to see a therapist for a number of weeks or months, typically spanning at least 12 sessions. Studies of pain reprocessing therapy found that many individuals’ experience of pain lessened in eight sessions over four weeks.
