Individuals/couples & families of immigrants can go through much psychological turmoil for being minorities in a mainstream culture that misunderstands them. This may lead to low self esteem, anxiety, depression & marital conflict. Affirming & supportive therapy helps people balance between cultures & find inner peace from their own values. They require an understanding of their own culture/ origin & the mainstream culture to develop self compassion & confidence and be assertiveness while being respectful to everyone around them. A good therapist would instill a sense of wellbeing in them while they contribute positively to life.

Are you tired of therapists who say that they do relationship therapy only to have you practice basic communication skills? Are you tired of the lack of progress and want to get unstuck once and for all? I specialize in making sure that time does continue to pass by while you are feeling weighed down in the status quo. I'm straightforward and honest. My clients describe me as annoyingly neutral when they try to get me to take sides against their partners. They also describe me as willing to ask the hard questions and willing to keep people accountable. I love helping people navigate every stage of coupling or uncoupling.

Feeling the weight of never-ending expectations? Do you find yourself striving for high standards, flawless work, or constant achievement—yet still feeling like it’s never enough? Are you overwhelmed by deadlines, self-doubt, or the pressure to always perform at your best? You’re not alone. Many high achievers feel trapped by the very standards that push them forward. It’s okay to pause, breathe, and give yourself permission to be human. Reaching out for support isn’t a sign of weakness—it’s a sign of strength.

Feeling stuck? Maybe you look like you have it all together on the outside — a steady career, stable relationships, people who count on you. But inside, something feels off. No matter how hard you try to change, certain patterns keep repeating. You might feel blocked, disconnected, or frustrated that all your insight hasn’t led to real relief. I work with thoughtful, self-aware people who have done personal growth work but still feel blocked by something they can’t quite name. Using Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy, I help you uncover and understand the inner parts of yourself that carry old pain or try to protect you from it.

I believe therapy should be more than teaching you to cope with your symptoms. My approach is focused on helping you experience long-lasting healing and growth. Trauma, unexpected events, and even our genetics can make life really difficult at times, but their effects don’t have to be permanent. Together, we will get to the root of whatever holds you back so that you can feel more like yourself again.

I'm a SEP providing Somatic Experiencing, Somatic Touch/Table Work and Sand Tray to adolescents and adults.
The most common feedback I get from clients is that they can tell that I love what I do. They are so right! I believe it is a strength, not a deficit, to reach out to someone for help and support. Whether it's acute trauma, behavioral issues, or adjustment to difficult life circumstances, being heard and supported in a therapeutic setting can make a world of difference. My approach with clients is to meet them where they are, determine where they want to be, and to be an empathic witness for them in their healing journey.

Teen Therapists

What does therapy for teenagers look like?

When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?

There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?

You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
