I approach therapy as a process driven, experiential, collaborative and person-centered. That means, I view you as a whole person whose mental health is impacted by your relationship with self, others, and the communities around you. I work with you to find your personal strengths so that you can build resilience and make positive life changes. I integrate mind-body strategies to connect the whole person and awaken your mind-heart connection. One of the ways I prioritize connection with mind-body, is to have sensory tools and objects in my space. You are allowed to explore and engage in these sensory tools when needed.

My reason for being a counselor is to help people understand and heal from their past and/or current pain and to learn coping strategies to manage future pain. People and relationships can be complex and full of both positive and negative emotions, including some that are painful. The ability to feel them, learn from them, and express them to others allows us to live more engaged and meaningful lives. It is rewarding to be able to support people as they go through the process of self-exploration.

If you’ve been feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or not quite like yourself, there’s a reason for what you’re experiencing. Life’s challenges can impact how you think, feel, and move through the world. Whether you’re new to therapy or ready to go deeper, I offer a space where you’re seen as a whole person, not just a set of struggles. As a trauma specialist, I understand that trauma is woven into the human condition. Together, we’ll move toward a life that feels more grounded, clear, and intentional.

I specialize in the treatment of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and provide Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy.
I look forward to working with clients to collaborate and support changes they're wanting to make. I have been able to treat individuals with challenging symptoms who may not have been properly diagnosed and subsequently, have not received appropriate treatment. Many of my clients have never learned how to cope with intrusive and sometimes disturbing thoughts. The therapy I provide empowers clients with the skills needed to feel in control of their anxiety, impulsiveness and unhealthy habits. My clients will learn how to manage unwanted thoughts and to abandon coping through rituals, escape and avoidance behaviors.

I work with various OCD themes including but not limited to the following POCD, ROCD, germ/contamination, moral/scrupolosity.
I identify as a bicultural (Ecuadorian-American) and Latina provider. Because of this, I recognize everyone’s unique experiences and challenges. I meet individuals where they are at, but I am open to challenging my clients (at your pace!) too. I provide a collaborative, safe, humorous, and flexible environment. I am very much willing to move around in session, participate in other activities, or just calmly sit. I am currently working towards my LPCC licensure, but I have spent 9+ years working in various mental health settings such as children’s residential treatment center, case management, and suicide prevention/suicidality.

Your symptoms are not cracks to be mended; they are communications from beyond— letters of desire your conscious life cannot yet bear. Our work begins exactly there. I practice from a Lacanian orientation, which means I listen not only for what you intend to say, but for what is said despite you. In that gap, something profoundly new can emerge. I do not promise solutions, positive thinking, or techniques for becoming “better adjusted.” I offer a place where you can finally speak freely, without needing to hide your desire, your contradictions, your ambivalence, or your pain.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists
How long does OCD treatment take?
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?
Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?
Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?
Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
