You might be someone who feels like the past still has too much power over your present. Maybe you’ve been through something painful—big or small—that still lingers in how you see yourself, how you show up in relationships, or how you handle stress. You’re self-aware, maybe even insightful, but still find yourself stuck in patterns that don’t feel good anymore. And while you know something needs to shift, you’re not exactly sure how to begin.

I work with clients to explore how to move forward in a way that aligns with their unique values and perspectives. In today’s fast-paced world, finding clarity, purpose, and peace can be challenging. While our life experiences shape us, we are not defined by our trauma, mistakes, or challenges. I approach therapy with a focus on resilience and hope, helping clients navigate both the practical aspects of change and the deeper process of understanding their experiences. My goal is to create a supportive, collaborative space where individuals feel heard, motivated, and empowered to move forward with confidence.

I believe most individuals are much stronger than they realize, and possess an inner wisdom and resilience from which they are currently disconnected. Life is hard. And it is perfectly normal to struggle with anxiety, depression, and stress when facing upheavals and transitions. Tremendous change and growth is often possible through adjustments in lifestyle and thinking patterns, and the tapping into inner resources that are presently underutilized.

I believe that individuals seeking support and healing benefit from a place where they can be fully heard and provided with the space and safety to tell their full stories. I've enjoyed a career working with both youth and adults who struggle with substance use, difficult life transitions, grief and loss, anxiety, complex trauma, academic struggle, self-esteem/identity concerns, anger, adoption/out of home placement and family conflict. I value working collaboratively with individuals to determine how they will sustain positive change and maintain growth-fostering connections long after our work together is complete.

Many come to therapy knowing only that they are struggling to get things done, their relationships have become a source of stress rather than comfort, or they need help processing trauma, loss, or other painful experiences impacting their daily lives. Whatever your circumstances, I strive to help each person or family I work with achieve greater emotional, psychological, and social well-being, while also alleviating symptoms. I use the power of storytelling and understand that each person I work with has many, important stories to tell. I also value and work with each person's nervous system in the healing process.

Male Therapists

As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?

There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.

How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?

Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?

Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with therapists of a specific gender. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.

Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?

Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
