Not accepting new clients
I work with clients ages 12 and up. I have special passions for treating folks struggling with negative self talk, symptoms of post traumatic stress, self harm, and suicidal ideation: if you feel like life isn't worth living, I want to explore that with you. Instead of shutting it down, let's built a life you DO experience as worth living. As a transgender and autistic therapist I love to work with clients looking to explore and process gender, sexual orientation, and/or neurodivergence.

OPEN to new clients! Suffering is a common part of life, and as painful as it can be, it can also be a great source of change and growth. I believe a warm, accepting, and non-judgmental space is essential in order for you to feel supported in sharing your story, emotions, and participating in a change process. I also am the type of therapist that will challenge you, ask questions, provide insight, and work with you collaboratively to address what is most important to you. I place a large emphasis on the therapeutic relationship- using an integrated approach based on the needs of each individual.

Current afternoon openings. Clients often tell me they feel overwhelmed with anxiety in parenting or their marriage. They feel unable to manage daily stressors or keep up with expectations at home and work. Daily stressors feel heavy and they end up arguing with their spouse, kids or coworkers. There are evidence-based techniques that can help you feel more in control to manage conflict effectively and role model better strategies. Triggers feel awful and there are proven remedies to stop them. Together through therapy we can eliminate negative thoughts and memories that prevent you from being your best self and feeling happier.

My name is Michael and I'm a psychotherapist based in Saint Paul, Minnesota. You're probably visiting my page because something isn’t working in your life and you are considering making a change. I work with individual clients that are 18+ who desire their lives to be different. I consider myself to be a generalist, but I do specialize in men’s issues, life transitions, grieving fathers, mood and trauma disorders, relationship distress, and other medical providers seeking support. I see a lot of people who have some ambivalence to meeting with a therapist, but have been “encouraged” by their partners to seek help.

I view life as story and the process of therapy as understanding and rewriting our stories. We all possess what we need to break patterns that are no longer serving us and sometimes we need a little help along the way. It can be difficult to create our own unique stories in a world that is constantly telling us who we should or shouldn’t be. My goal is to help you discover what is and is not working for you in your current story and support the cultivation of new possibilities alongside you to help you live as your most wild, healed, and authentic self. I take a gentle, compassionate, and collaborative approach to therapy.

Fear is the emotion underlying most problems in our lives. We are often the biggest hurdle to reaching our potential. Whether it's fear of success, or performance, stage fright, or fear of becoming more engaged in life and with others, it all connects back to our own beliefs limiting our potential. What we believe about ourselves dictates how successful we are or aren't. Wanting it to be different usually isn't enough. Liberating ourselves from our self-created shackles is the answer, and changing neurocognitive pathways is the key. Life can be very different once this happens.

As a therapist I see how powerful the mind-body connection can be, not only in how we live our lives, but also how we respond to challenges and interact with others. We are not always able to choose the obstacles in life but I do believe we can work towards responding to them in ways that help us feel empowered and confident. By listening to and understanding our thoughts, feelings and physical sensations we are more effectively able to navigate life and choose paths that better suit our values.

Many of my clients identify as "people pleasers", and say they feel stuck in a difficult relationship with their family or partner. They may struggle setting boundaries and have a history of abandoning themselves in order to "keep the peace" with others. Some grew up in erratic or dysfunctional families where "walking on eggshells" was common and familiar. As adults, they have learned to tolerate dysfunction and may subconsciously select partners who are similarly invalidating, defensive, critical or otherwise difficult to please. As a result, these inner child wounds now show up in their adult relationships.

Feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or running on empty? Depression can drain your energy, bipolar disorder can feel unpredictable, and coping strategies that once worked may not feel sustainable anymore. Past trauma or religious trauma can add even more weight. Relationship stress, major life changes, and school or work burnout can leave you stuck and unsure where to begin. You don’t have to figure it out alone. I also work with healthcare professionals and first responders, helping you set boundaries, process difficult experiences, and find sustainable ways to care for yourself while caring for others.

I aim to help people make sense of their experiences by listening, finding patterns, and connecting dots. The issues that bring us to therapy are often connected to previous events or long-standing themes, and my job as a therapist is to help people understand themselves in the context of their environment, relationships, and experiences. With this insight, we are then able to create meaningful change. My approach is warm, authentic, and rooted in the belief that each one of us deserves to tell our own story.

Greetings! I offer Telehealth sessions and am part of a small practice that is community oriented and dedicated to helping folks using a holistic and decolonized lens. I grew up in the Midwest and continually strive to broaden my perspective and worldviews. My experiences inform my clinical approach which is empathic, person centered and collaborative when partnering with folks on their healing journeys - wherever they may be on that continuum. I typically use a blend of cognitive therapy techniques and somatic based practices. My goal is to help clients live full and meaningful lives that aligns with their values.

In a world that often rewards speed and suppression, therapy can offer a space to intentionally slow down. I offer a structured space and compassionate relationship to help you notice what has been ignored, minimized, or carried alone for too long.
