With more than a decade of experience in hospitals, clinics, and private practice, I am guided by the belief that there is more that’s right with people, than is wrong with people. There is much about the way we live that contributes to the feeling of disconnection and destabilization that so many of us feel. And yet, few of us were ever taught the skills to navigate the seemingly simple (but actually pretty complex) worlds that we live in.

My ideal client is an adult seeking clarity. They may have spent years wondering whether they are autistic, often after a lifetime of feeling different, masking, or working incredibly hard to meet expectations.
I specialize in working with people socialized as female, the trans/queer community, and those who have felt overlooked or misunderstood by our systems. Many are high-achieving professionals who function well externally but experience chronic exhaustion, overwhelm, or a persistent sense of not quite fitting. Others are exploring identity, executive functioning challenges, or sensory differences.

I do culturally-and-trauma-informed ADHD testing and therapy and I am one of the few queer people of color in the Midwest that can tailor these specialties towards my patient's strengths and skills.
I've worked with a myriad of clients and patients over the 30-year course of my social work career. I went back to grad school in 2015 to pursue my MSW and completed that in 2018 and my journey to become a therapist continues. I love working in a small private practice setting and the environment has nurtured my creativity and curiosity as a therapist which has allowed me to bring my own flare to the scope of my practice. I have an affinity for BIPOC communities, LGBTQ+ and queer individuals who have experienced various forms of trauma throughout their lifetime. I'm poly-and-other-relationship-types friendly.

After experiencing a devastating series of personal, relational, occupational, family, social, and spiritual obstacles in my life, my self-talk was often self-defeating. I was discontent, lacking purposeful, meaningful contact with others, and felt empty inside instead of accepting my reality and the changing interactions between the environment, others, and myself. I was caught between staying the same and recognizing and embracing change. Whether you are in a time of transition or a time of pain, I believe we all have the tools we need to walk toward a loving and meaningful life.

Hello. I have always desired to understand feelings, behavior and the human mind; always been driven toward solving the questions that start with why. I would deem it a privilege to take the time with someone to answer how they can move forward from their situation and how they can deal with whatever hand life has dealt them, as well as being able to diagnose any conditions before initiating treatment. My hope for all clients is to get them to a place where therapy is a choice or no longer needing therapy to achieve their goals in life. Book with me now by clicking on my website.

Testing and Evaluation Therapists
What is a psychological evaluation?
A psychological evaluation is a test or assessment most commonly administered by a trained psychologist that is intended to be used in the diagnosis of specific psychological conditions, such as ADHD, mood disorders, personality disorders, dementia or Alzheimer's, and learning disabilities. Psychological evaluations can help inform future treatment decisions and help direct clients to professionals and resources that may be most helpful, such as potential therapy options or additional school supports.
Can psychological evaluations be done on individuals of any age group?
Psychological evaluations are conducted on individuals of all ages and can be beneficial to individuals across the lifespan. However, specific types of evaluations may be most frequently conducted on individuals of certain age groups. For instance, ADHD or learning disability testing is often conducted in children ages 4-12--the period of time when ADHD symptoms most commonly emerge. In contrast, cognitive functioning assessments, such as those conducted to diagnose dementia, are most commonly conducted in elderly individuals. Clients should ensure that the psychologist they are seeing has specific expertise in conducting evaluations in their age group to ensure they receive a correct diagnosis.
How long does a psychological evaluation take?
Psychological evaluations vary in length depending on the test being administered and the goals of the evaluation; however, most evaluations are 2-4 hours in length. Some evaluations may take as long as 8 hours but can often be spread across multiple days. In some cases, clients will also attend an intake session or interview, which can help the psychologist assess client functioning outside of the testing environment.
How should I prepare for a psychological test and evaluation?
Individuals do not need to prepare for psychological tests or evaluations in most cases, as they are intended to measure a client's baseline psychological status without test-specific preparation. However, clients may want to brainstorm a list of questions for their psychologist about any tests they are receiving prior to the assessment, including what potential outcomes may mean for what next steps the client should take.
