Life can be difficult. All of us face challenges, setbacks, and painful emotions. When the weight of it all feels too heavy to bear alone, I'm here to listen and support you. You don't have to walk alone in your journey. Showing vulnerability takes courage. Healing often requires us to face parts of ourselves we would rather avoid. But in the end, we are all human - imperfect and complex. There is no shame in seeking therapy and support. In fact, it demonstrates remarkable strength. Sometimes, taking the first step is difficult and I recognize the courage this takes. I understand how hard it can be to reach out for help.

I believe making active focused choices about how to cope with problems and reach your goals pays dividends. Some clients come to therapy to better make peace with their past so as not to continue old patterns. Others are seeking relief from stress and anxiety that the modern world seems to breed. Yet others are working on improving important relationships. Many clients are looking for answers to meaning and purpose that they have not yet resolved in their day-to-day life. What is it that you most want to work on?

I am in-network with Health Partners, Blue Cross, UHC, UMR, Optum, Medicare, Aetna, and Medica, but I can also provide a superbill for my out-of-network clients.
When it comes to therapy, I know it takes a lot to find the "right" therapist and it is an investment in time, energy and resources, so making it worthwhile is important. You will find my approach validating as well as direct. Whether it is you getting overwhelmed at work, angry all the time, not being able to say "no," can't get rid of that perfectionism, relationship issues, parenting, trauma or aging...I am your therapist. We will work together to get you to your goals. My philosophy is to get things figured out so you can get back to living your life.

My approach to therapy is relational, integrative, and tailored to each person. I believe deeply in people’s capacity to change and offer compassionate, non-judgmental support grounded in years of experience treating trauma (including PTSD with Prolonged Exposure), anxiety, and substance-use–related concerns. I bring humor and humanity into the work because therapy is easier when we can relax. If I’m not the right fit, I’ll help guide you to someone who is.

You deserve to feel better, and we’re here when you are ready to get started. You don't have to do it alone and you can start today! You may be facing recent challenges and feeling ready to make a change. Perhaps you’ve been feeling stressed, overwhelmed, or unhappy. Things that once felt manageable may not feel as easy right now. Relationships, work, or daily responsibilities may feel harder to navigate, and you might even feel insecure, alone, or like no one truly understands what you’re going through. If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone and you don’t have to face it by yourself.

If you’re reading this, you’ve already done the hard thing—you’ve taken that step toward healing that can often feel so overwhelming. Choosing a therapist is a combination of a vibe check and sussing out whether they know their stuff. My clients tell me I’m warm, and I’ll take it. They also tell me I keep it real. My clients are creative, in a lot of pain, and looking for someone who can help them untangle the knots in their heads and hearts. They're tired of talk therapy that goes nowhere. They want tools that help. They want new ways of thinking and looking at the world and themselves. They want to build the life they long for.

I’m deeply committed to helping individuals and couples navigate the complexities of relationships and attachment. Drawing on attachment theory, relational dynamics, and elements of CBT, I guide clients in understanding how past experiences shape present connections. My approach is grounded in empathy and collaboration, offering a supportive space to explore feelings, patterns, and behaviors. I believe healing begins with self-awareness, and that cultivating secure relationships is vital to emotional well-being. Together, we’ll identify attachment styles, challenge unhelpful thought patterns, and nurture more meaningful connections.

Does insurance cover therapy, prescriptions and other behavioral health services?
In general, yes. Laws in the U.S. require insurers to cover essential behavioral health care at the same level as other health care services. Most health plans require a medical diagnosis and treatments that are evidence based and medically essential. This means that life coaching and alternative therapies are not covered, nor is therapy without a diagnosis. Call the number on the back or your insurance card or visit your insurance company's website to review your Summary of Benefits. If you have insurance through your employer, your Human Resources department may also be able to answer questions.

How much does therapy cost with insurance?
The cost of therapy depends on your region, how much training and experience your therapist has, and the type of treatment. The rate for talk therapy generally falls between $100 and $250. For a client seeing an in-network provider, the cost of therapy is often similar to the cost of other health care services. Clients pay co-pays and may need to satisfy a plan’s deductible before benefits kick in.

What is the difference between In-Network and Out-of-Network insurance coverage?
An in-network provider has contracted with an insurer to get paid directly for services, and to accept the insurer’s rate of compensation. Clients are responsible for deductibles and copays. If a therapist is out of network, that means that the client pays the therapist directly for services at the therapist’s regular fee. Out-of-Network providers often give clients a receipt so that they can file for partial reimbursement with their insurance company.

Is it difficult to find an In-Network therapist?
It is not unusual for therapists to limit the number of insurance patients in their practice, so it’s important to check in-network availability when you schedule your first appointment. In regions and times where therapy is in high demand it may take longer to get scheduled with an in-network therapist.

What is the difference between HMO and PPO insurance plans?
HMO health plans only cover in-network services, there is no reimbursement for out-of-network providers. PPO plans often cover both in- and out-of-network services, though the client may pay more for out-of-network services.

What is a Superbill?
A superbill is a receipt for therapy services. It provides all the information required by insurance companies to reimburse you for out-of-network services, including the diagnostic codes for your care, the amount paid, and the dates and duration of care.

Does insurance cover Online therapy?
Many therapists who shifted their practice to online therapy during the pandemic have kept that arrangement. And most insurers continue to cover telehealth services, with a few exceptions. Preventive care (such as an annual depression screening) is often required to be in-person to be covered, and some states require prescribers of controlled substances to see those patients in person.

Does insurance cover Group therapy?
Many insurance plans provide coverage for group therapy provided there is a medical diagnosis for group members, but there are some noteworthy exceptions. For example, Medicare does not always cover group therapy. Group therapy tends to cost less than individual therapy.

Does insurance cover Couples therapy?
Most insurance companies do not cover the cost of couples therapy because there is no medical diagnosis or medically necessary treatment. However, a few plans will offer a limited benefit, so it is still worth checking with your insurance company. Sometimes therapy is covered for a couple when one person has a diagnosis and another family member joins them for joint therapy, but it is considered therapy for the medical condition that includes a family member as a listener or helper, not couples counseling. Without insurance, most clients pay between $100-300 per 60-90 min session for couples therapy. Often clients can find classes or workshops that make it more affordable to work on their relationship. And some employers offer benefit plans that help defray the cost of couples therapy. Learn more about Insurance Coverage and Finding Affordable Therapy
