I believe in the ability of psychotherapy to bring us to greater understanding of ourselves. A skilled therapist can provide the means to respond to the past and enable individuals to identify what they want and what their obstacles are. With a foundation based on a strong therapeutic relationship, a belief in the unconscious and respect for your own pace, I will help you examine who you are, what you want and what stands in the way of reaching your potential for happiness, meaning and satisfaction.

You've probably been told to "think positive". You've heard you shouldn't be so hard on yourself. You've heard you should smile more and stop dwelling on the past, or calm down and stop worrying about the future. You've tried your best, but it seems like no one can tell you how to actually do these things. You want to live a full, rich, and meaningful life, to feel good at what you do, to belong in community, to love and be loved— but all of this seems like it has to wait until you've solved your current problems. Here's my radical suggestion: you already have what you need to thrive. And I'd like to help you discover it.

I am particularly drawn to working with teens, Jewish folks, couples—particularly those in interracial/intercultural relationships, those working to heal personal, relational, or intergenerational trauma, and anyone desiring depth work and personal insight.
I am a Narrative and Experiential therapist. This means I see great power in changing our experiences through changing the stories we tell about ourselves. I do this work because I believe therapy can be a tool for personal and collective liberation—liberation from pain, generational trauma, and the systems of oppression that harm all of us.

I offer therapy services for both children and adults. I aim to support all ages in processing life transitions, anxiety, family conflict, relationship challenges, identity exploration and building social skills. With children, I use play and simple conversation to help them process their experiences and grow, while also supporting parents through the challenges of caring for a child facing mental health concerns. With adults, I create a safe space to explore emotions and beliefs, then examine their impact on well-being. Together, we gently challenge unhelpful patterns to foster clarity, balance, and a higher quality of life.

When life gets hard, practicing self-compassion often takes a back seat to your problems. You may be finding that feelings of hopelessness and negative self-talk have become barriers to your healing. Through therapy, we can work together to ignite your self-compassion by re-working your patterns of thinking, exploring your past experiences, and connecting yourself deeply with your emotions.

My clients are typically folks who identify as marginalized in some way, especially folks who identify as queer, neurodivergent, and/or disabled. I specialize in supporting folks who are chronically ill. I love working with folks with "scary" or stigmatized diagnoses, including borderline personality disorder. Although I am now proud to live in Minnesota, I am originally from Massachusetts, which comes out in my directness and my humor, both of which are tools I like to use to support clients.
I became a therapist because I love people, and I am motivated by my values of inclusivity and equity to find ways to make therapy accessible

If you are here, you are probably considering therapy. Thank you for taking the time to consider me as a provider. I am a psychologist and work with adults and teens with anxiety and ADHD, people who feel disconnected from their emotions, and those with a sense that something is "missing" in life. Common concerns that I work with include difficulties with emotion regulation, procrastination, and organization; tolerating uncertainty and "overthinking"; and a sense of being unfulfilled and struggling to identify and act consistently with values. Outside of my practice, I am a Professor of Psychology involved in training therapists.

You’re wondering how you'll ever make it as an adult and if you'll ever really feel like one. You feel like a failure or you are terrified of it because you are scared, sad, unmotivated, unfocused, and isolated. A part of you wants to figure things out and a part of you wants to escape everything. You're questioning, will I ever: find lasting love or friendship, achieve enough in school, land a job that makes me happy, start a family, become a good enough parent, and somehow balance it all? I help Millennials and Gen Zs to overcome self-doubt, uncertainty, and barriers that life throws in their way to building the life they want.

Why is it important for a therapist to be culturally sensitive?
Therapists and clients don’t need to share the same background to be able to work together, but a therapist whose training includes a focus on cultural competence may be better able to form a therapeutic bond with individuals from a range of backgrounds, as they will have experience tailoring their approach to each client—and will be prepared to acknowledge and consider the effects of cultural forces, such as discrimination, that may contribute to that client’s concerns. With a professional who has such training, a client should feel comfortable discussing sensitive issues without feeling that they need to self-censor.
How can I recognize an effective Jewish therapist?
As with members of any religious or ethnic group, just because two people happen to be Jewish does not guarantee that they will share the same values, knowledge, or experiences. A Jewish client seeking a therapist who shares their cultural identity, or for whom it’s important that a therapist share their religious beliefs, may want to discuss a professional’s Jewish background with them before beginning therapy. For someone who seeks justification for major life changes in their religious tradition, or in biblical writings, finding a therapist who is comfortable framing guidance in that context may be especially valuable.
Would a Jewish therapist have unique training?
No, but they should have the same training and certification as any other mental health professional, as well as experience with a range of evidence-based techniques such as cognitive-behavioral therapy or mindfulness-based therapy. A therapist with this type of experience should be able to help any client feel comfortable and safe, which is essential for a therapeutic alliance. Once this is established, a potential client may want to find out more about the therapist’s Jewish background.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience with Jewish clients?
A client can directly ask a therapist if they have extensive experience working with Jewish clients and if so, whether these individuals sought counseling for faith-related issues or marital or familial issues in which their Jewish background was a factor. A client may also wish to ask a potential therapist whether they incorporate Jewish teachings and values into their own professional work.
Who is included in Psychology Today’s directory of Jewish therapists?
The directory of Jewish therapists includes professionals who have opted to share their cultural background on their profiles. However, not all therapists choose to disclose their background, and they may not appear in search results for this reason. The directory also shows therapists who indicate that they have extensive experience working with Jewish clients and/or communities.
