My ideal clients are teens and adults navigating misophoina, trauma, high abilities of dissociation, OCD, and late-discovered ADHD/autism. Many are queer or neurodivergent, seeking a therapist who meets them with humor, care, and flexibility. Their goals are to feel grounded, authentic, and empowered in daily life. I work from a systems perspective, recognizing the importance and impact of one’s primary relationships and social systems on one’s wellness. I offer a sex-positive, kink- and ENM-affirming space.

Hey There! I'm Bee. I am a quirky, non binary, queer and neurodivergent therapist who has a social justice, existential and feminist lens when it comes to therapy. My focus is on exploring personal identity. What does it mean to be Queer in a heteronormative world? What are your own values versus values imposed by society? I use this lens to work with clients on complex trauma, dissociation and gender identity.

When your child’s emotions spill over into big meltdowns, angry outbursts, or long stretches of shutting down, it can feel overwhelming to know what to do. Maybe you’ve seen your child struggle with anxiety at school, act aggressively at home, or seem far away after a difficult experience. You want to understand what’s going on beneath the behavior, and you want your child to have safe ways to manage feelings, reconnect, and heal.

Humans often endure complicated transitions and unexpected challenges while learning to navigate the world. I especially enjoy working with people during dynamic times of life like middle school, high school, and college. I also specialize in work with creative individuals and artists. Clients are warmly accepted in my practice for who they are today. I help clients better understand their brain and their body's responses. My goal is to provide a stable environment that is both supportive and challenging. Together, we explore what that person values, where they want to go, what they would like to change, and who they want to become.

Although good therapy is serious business it does not have to be grim! I'm very creative and flexible in my approach and view the therapeutic process as a series of hypotheses we explore together. I offer warmth, humor, and sharp analysis of the big picture as well as the details to help you identify what's holding you back and how to move forward differently in a clear, practicable way. In my office we will laugh a lot but we will also work very hard. More than just a psychological travel agent I strive to be a tour guide leader. Your journey is not my journey but I walk with you, in the muck with you, as you determine where to go.

I work with people who want better relationships with others and better relationships with themselves. Couples, families, and individuals I see are bright, curious, motivated people who find their lives disrupted somehow - by the intrusion of traumatic experiences, life transitions, or persistent struggles with mental health that don't resolve on their own. I have a deep understanding of the unique therapy needs of therapists and doctors and their partners and families, and I enjoy working with folks anywhere on the gender and sexuality spectra. I also work with torture and war trauma survivors, refugees, and asylum seekers.

Dissociative Disorders (DID) Therapists
How does therapy for dissociative disorders work?
Dissociation may be triggered by stress or other upsetting circumstances, and therapy can address the traumatic events at the core of an individual’s dissociation. Understanding why a person may dissociate can help the therapist and the individual come up with alternative methods of coping. A person with a dissociative disorder may get stuck on negative thinking, for example, and treatment like Cognitive behavioral therapy is a gold standard for breaking such thinking. And dialectical behavior therapy, for example, can help a person manage their anguish through better emotion regulation.

Which therapies are best for dissociative disorders?
Specific approaches used by professionals include cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavior, psychodynamic, schema therapies, among others. Cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavior therapies are two widely used therapies that can help individuals with painful memories and past traumas. These therapies work to integrate an individual's different identities into one person.

Are there specific medications for dissociation?
There are no specific medications prescribed for dissociative disorders. However, psychosis, depression, anxiety, and/or panic often co-occur in dissociative disorders. A psychiatrist may prescribe medications for any accompanying symptom—which may include antipsychotics like aripiprazole, antidepressants like selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or anti-anxiety drugs like benzodiazepines.

How often and how long are therapy sessions?
Like any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual. Patients may see improvement within 15 to 20 sessions, at an average of 50 minutes per session, others may opt for 20 to 30 sessions over, perhaps, a six-month period. There are still other patients, especially those who have co-occurring conditions like depression and anxiety, who may need to continue sessions for up to 12 to 18 months.
