Mental health impacts us everyday, whether we're struggling or know someone who is. As a therapist, I aim to improve the lives of those seeking help, by offering individual, couple and group therapy. It is my goal to provide my clients with hope and encouragement, when they have none. My approach is to come along side my clients, and discover with them, the awareness and skills they need to prioritize, give clarity, make changes and improve their lives.

I have been working with adolescents, teens, and young adults (up to around age 40) for nearly 30 years. I enjoying hearing people's stories and finding ways that I can help. People that I tend to work with struggle with feelings of depression, anxiety, and some struggle with symptoms indicative of attention difficulties. Their desire is to discover ways to cope with mood irregularities, strategies to manage anxious feelings, and methods they can use to complete tasks, empower self-motivation, and to get organized. As a therapist who is also a Social Worker, I tend to also offer suggestions for resources in the community.

Are you a new parent, or about to be, and finding yourself struggling? Maybe you're feeling disconnected, numb, sad, or anxious. Are you someone who has always been able to "keep it together" and manage life but now you're finding yourself overwhelmed, second-guessing everything, unable to manage, and struggling to juggle it all? If you are struggling with scary thoughts, anxiety, shifting identities and relationships, or just not feeling like yourself as you adjust to parenthood, you are not alone and it is not your fault. You can, and you deserve, to feel better.

I utilize elements of the NARM (NARM Master Therapist), mind-body connection, Trust Based Relational Intervention, grief and loss, strengths perspective and the research of Brené Brown in my work with clients.
At times, life can feel so heavy that it feels difficult to breath. It’s times like this when we’re overwhelmed with emotion and/or a negative internal voice and often feel alone. You deserve to be heard and seen in a safe, collaborative space. I provide a compassionate place to rest your heart and mind to help you process your feelings. Together, we identify your intentions while honoring your struggles with authenticity and compassionately explore what gets in way of what you would like for yourself. I look forward to connecting with you!

Big life changes, both positive (such as retirement, becoming a new parent, marriage, etc.) and challenging (such as divorce, grieving the death of a loved one, receiving a life changing diagnosis, etc.), can bring a wide range of thoughts and feelings about what the change means for you and your life moving forward.
Regardless of what you're facing right now, the emotions and thoughts that come up around your experiences are real and they deserve to be processed. Together, we will fill your tool box full of skills to help you overcome and move forward with whatever stressor or change you are being asked to navigate.

My clients include people coping with: self-worth, anxiety, depression, grief and loss.
Many people are finding life more difficult these days. There is often so much to deal with in our personal lives, add the impact of world events and it can all just be too much. Having someone to listen and support you can make a big difference in coping with your struggles and not feeling alone. I’ve never met anyone that doesn’t like being listened to and understood. My focus in therapy is to help you get relief from your pain and explore ways to cope with life’s ongoing challenges.

Grief: the deafening silence where you once heard their voice.
Grief coaching is different from therapy because grief is not a mental illness. You're not crazy. You just crave peace. You don't need "closure." You want an ongoing relationship with the person who is gone.

I help adults (and teens 14+), virtually and in-person, who are struggling with anxiety, depression, and adjustment issues related to grief following a major loss.
I believe a regulated nervous system is the foundation for resilience, allowing us to respond to life's challenges with clarity and calmness rather than fear and reactivity. I utilize a compassion-focused approach that nurtures self-kindness while also holding my clients accountable for their personal growth.

'Big' life changes like a cancer diagnosis or a partner experiencing dementia; 'Life' issues like relationships, grief/ loss, anxiety, anger, depression, persistent feelings of sadness, job difficulties, retirement challenges and more.
Through deep listening, healing begins; by learning how our brain and neurological system function to protect us, we begin to understand the automatic nature of our responses; and through mindfulness and biofeedback work, we develop tools that help us regain a sense of control over how we respond when presented with adversity.

Together, we’ll work through the fear, grief, and uncertainty, so you can reconnect with yourself and regain confidence in your body and your life.
Medical trauma can turn your world upside down. One day, life felt normal, and now everything feels different—you might not trust your body, fear doctor’s visits, or feel stuck in memories you wish you could forget. Maybe you’re exhausted from pretending you’re okay when inside, you feel lost, anxious, or overwhelmed. You replay the worst moments, wondering why they won’t fade. You struggle to explain to loved ones why you’re still not “over it.” You want to move forward, but part of you is still caught in what happened, wondering if you’ll ever feel like yourself again.

I don't know your story yet, but if you are experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, or loss, you don't need to go through it alone.
I'm an open, gentle, sometimes sarcastic person. Therapy usually involves grappling with some uncomfortable feelings, but my clients and I also often joke and laugh in our meetings. I have training and experience dealing with a range of issues from grief to ADHD, but everyone's path is unique. I'd love to walk with you for as long as I can be helpful.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
