Are you a new parent, or about to be, and finding yourself struggling? Maybe you're feeling disconnected, numb, sad, or anxious. Are you someone who has always been able to "keep it together" and manage life but now you're finding yourself overwhelmed, second-guessing everything, unable to manage, and struggling to juggle it all? If you are struggling with scary thoughts, anxiety, shifting identities and relationships, or just not feeling like yourself as you adjust to parenthood, you are not alone and it is not your fault. You can, and you deserve, to feel better.

The people I work with often feel disconnected from the deep intimacy they desire with friends, family, and partners. After experiences of harm or trauma, relationships might feel risky, exhausting, or unsatisfying. Together we'll work to understand how you show up in relationships and why, exploring what it could look like to be more fully seen and loved. My aim is to nurture a safe environment where you feel heard, held, and gently challenged as you observe your patterns, reclaim choice, grow self-compassion, and come into greater alignment with your hopes and values. Your autonomy and security are centered every step of the way.

Picture this: You and your partner used to share everything. Late-night talks, inside jokes, small moments that made you feel like a team. Now? You're managing feedings, laundry, maybe a body that doesn’t feel like yours anymore, and a relationship that feels... off. Underneath the noise or the silence, there’s this ache: I miss us. Most support focuses on one of you, usually the birthing parent, but the truth is, both of you are going through something huge and deserve support. You’ve been holding it together for so long—pushing through the stress, the overwhelm, the exhaustion. On the outside, you seem fine, but inside, the anxiety, self-doubt, and pressure to keep going never stop. You might find yourself reacting to life rather than responding, and would do anything to change generational patterns so your children don’t inherit the same struggles. You don’t have to keep doing this alone. I specialize in helping individuals like you reclaim a sense of peace, confidence, and balance. You deserve to feel at ease in your own life.

Whether you've been newly diagnosed or have been living with an illness for a while, you’re trying to push through the best you know how. But every day is still hard because your body feels sick from aches, pains or other symptoms. You brace yourself for the worst to happen, because that’s unfortunately been your “new norm.” You miss being your old self - the one that could “do more things." Now, you feel like a failure in many areas of your life. The smile you wear covers what you really feel – alone, worried, helpless and angry. All of this has taken a toll on you emotionally and you want to feel more in control of your worries.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
