Brainspotting Therapists in Roseville, MN
With extensive training in Somatic Experiencing and Brainspotting and over 18 years of clinical experience, I have observed that our upbringing and past pain want to heal and often show up as depression, anxiety, or physical symptoms.
Not Accepting New Clients...
Well, if thinking could rid you of your problems you would have been freed long ago because. It is time to identify the root issues, confront the pain and fear from the past so you can move forward. Somatic therapy allows you to think, feel and move through stuck issues. It is time to live out your values with integrity and have meaningful connections with yourself, your loved ones and your community. It's time to be done with unresolved trauma and move on to bigger and better things.

Therapy can provide a powerful opportunity for self-understanding and balance restoration which ultimately leads to growth and emotional healing. My goal as a therapist is to create a safe and trusted space with clients to help them begin to identify problematic patterns and explore healthy, effective coping skills. My hope is this repairative process will facilitate change not just within the context of therapy but in all relationships and areas of a client's life. There are many issues we may explore in therapy: anxiety, depression, eating disorders, body image, grief/loss and life transitions among others.

Your recent loss has brought up many questions for you about the future. You've been wondering how you will survive and move forward now that someone so important to you is gone. You're not trying to deny the loss, but you don't know how to adapt to it. While others continue life as usual, you feel your life has reached a standstill. You can't go back to the way things used to be and you're not sure how things can go on. You were not ready to say goodbye, and now you're not ready to continue your life without them. You wish you could find relief from this grief.

I enjoy blending Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Brainspotting, and Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy together.
We don’t choose what life throws our way… But we choose our response. When the challenges of life hit, we can get lost in the mess of trying to understand why. Yet, sometimes things just happen and our job is not to understand why, but to identify what we are going to do about it next. Blending process oriented and action oriented approaches together I help clients process through the pain and frustrations of the past and reconnect with a meaningful life.

Welcome! I'm glad you found my profile. Even if you decide I'm not the right therapist for you, I want to commend you for taking the first step toward improving your mental health. Often, finding the right provider is the hardest part of therapy. I might be the therapist for you if any of the following apply: you've experienced traumatic events and feel stuck, you're grappling with professional burnout or compassion fatigue, you're breaking a family cycle of abuse, or if you've tried traditional talk therapy and need something different.

I see clients of any age, however, I focus largely on play therapy with children and their families as it is a growing passion of mine. Drawing on my role as a mother and from my years of experience working with children, I understand the importance of coming alongside children and their caregivers to provide a nurturing and healing environment.

While I co-create a tailored therapy experience with each and every client, therapy approaches I am trained in and tend to offer to clients include: Internal Family Systems, Brainspotting, Feedback Informed Treatment.
You may feel exhausted from always bracing for something to go wrong, overwhelmed by emotions that seem to come out of nowhere, or disconnected from yourself and others. Sometimes these patterns are rooted in trauma—experiences that were overwhelming, isolating, or too much to carry alone. Trauma can emerge suddenly through loss, violation, or crisis, or more quietly over time through relationships where you felt unseen, unsupported, or unsafe. Healing begins with understanding these patterns with compassion rather than shame, creating space to feel more grounded, connected, and fully yourself again.

Brainspotting - Levels one and two completed in 2024, respectively, with Mariya Javed-Payne and Linnea Swanson.
I am a second generation Korean-American born and raised on the unceded ancestral lands of the Dxʷdəwʔabš (Duwamish Tribe); I now live as a guest upon Dakota land, Mni Sóta Maḳoce. My relational approach is built upon twenty years working with and alongside individuals, families and communities, nurturing growth as an educator, coach, leader and reflective practitioner. Becoming a parent in 2014 both broke and broke me open, ushering personal and intergenerational healing and cultural reclamation that continues today. A lifelong learner, I journey along the path towards “Becoming a Good Ancestor” (credit: Layla Saad).

Brainspotting Therapists
How does brainspotting work?
Brainspotting works by using eye positioning to identify and process traumatic memories so that a client is better able to move forward and live with less fear. The theory behind brainspotting is that by identifying where a person looks when thinking of traumatic memories, a therapist will be able to guide them to focus on that spot and work with the client to get them out of the “fight, flight, freeze” response associated with the traumatic memory.
Is brainspotting an evidence-based therapy?
Brainspotting is a theory-based alternative therapy. It is one of the newest forms of treatment, so very little research has been completed that examines the mechanism by which it works. The theory behind brainspotting is that eye position can be linked to areas of the brain that store and process memory.
How effective is brainspotting?
Because it is such a new treatment, the effectiveness of brainspotting cannot be quantified. Some people have found it to be effective on its own, or in conjunction with other types of therapy. It is considered an alternative therapy, and it is popular with people for whom more traditional therapies have proven ineffective.
How long does brainspotting take to work?
A typical brainspotting session will last between 60 to 90 minutes. There is no required number of sessions needed to complete brainspotting therapy, but in many cases it is delivered over the course of about six sessions. Clients are encouraged to rate their level of distress prior to a session and again following a session, and to track progress.
