You keep it pushing and may be known as the responsible one, and secretly carry more than what most people you know realize. But somewhere in all of that, your own needs continue to be set aside. You may come from a family or a culture where being responsible was expected, being strong was praised, and having needs felt complicated. Now you are trying to build a life that includes you, too. Therapy can be where we get honest about what that has cost you, and what it would mean to make room for yourself.

Are you feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or confused and unsure how to move forward? You want more than surface-level advice—you’re looking to understand what’s driving your patterns, regain control, and build healthier ways of coping to better align your life and values. I am passionate about helping adult men fight through the stigma of asking for help. We all struggle, and the vulnerability that comes with asking for help is a strength not a weakness.

Connection. We all seek it–whether it’s a connection to our families, partners, spouses, friends, community, and maybe most importantly, ourselves. But often we find ourselves stuck in our own heads, endlessly questioning why it’s not there or justifying why it’s not needed. My approach to therapy for both individuals and couples is to help you find or re-discover that connection.

Many of the people I work with feel stuck in patterns they can’t break like addiction, relationship cycles, depression, or behaviors that don’t make sense even to them. There’s often a mix of shame, isolation, and uncertainty about what change would even look like. I start by helping make sense of what’s actually driving those patterns, without judgment. From there, the work becomes more direct; getting honest about what isn’t working and what needs to change. I focus on clarity, accountability, and building practical ways forward so people can move out of cycles and into something more stable and intentional.

Life can feel heavy when you’re doing everything you can to hold it together. Anxiety, shame, disconnection, or burnout can build slowly until they demand attention. I work with men who are ready to face what’s beneath the surface—to find clarity, purpose, and genuine connection in their lives and relationships.

I am a clinician with a passion for supporting individuals who are navigating depression, anxiety, trauma, and the often unspoken search for meaning and connection in their lives. I specialize in working with artists, creatives, and highly sensitive individuals—people who often experience the world with deep intensity and nuance, but who may also feel stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected from themselves. As an artist, I understand the unique emotional and psychological terrain that comes with a creative life, whether that be visual artists, musicians, writers, performers, or those who simply think outside the box.

I am passionate about working with children and their families, especially around themes of attachment, relationships, and resilience. Children are deeply shaped by the experiences around them, yet they also have an incredible capacity to heal when given the right support. I strive to provide a caring space for children working through transitions, grief, anxiety, depression, trauma, and other challenges that may hinder their ability to thrive. Alongside my work with children, I also enjoy supporting Muslim women, teens, and adults. I find meaning in creating spaces where clients can explore challenges while honoring their values.

I find great fulfillment working with members of the community who identify as queer or trans and are looking for a space to navigate the difficulties of daily living in an environment that is becoming increasingly hostile to gender-nonconformity. I, myself, identify as gender queer. I also have a passion for working with individuals who have experienced chronic childhood trauma and need assistance and professional guidance to process lived experiences through supportive therapy. My background is working in sexual health and crisis counseling, so I take a sex positive and holistic approach to working with folks.

Does insurance cover therapy, prescriptions and other behavioral health services?
In general, yes. Laws in the U.S. require insurers to cover essential behavioral health care at the same level as other health care services. Most health plans require a medical diagnosis and treatments that are evidence based and medically essential. This means that life coaching and alternative therapies are not covered, nor is therapy without a diagnosis. Call the number on the back or your insurance card or visit your insurance company's website to review your Summary of Benefits. If you have insurance through your employer, your Human Resources department may also be able to answer questions.

How much does therapy cost with insurance?
The cost of therapy depends on your region, how much training and experience your therapist has, and the type of treatment. The rate for talk therapy generally falls between $100 and $250. For a client seeing an in-network provider, the cost of therapy is often similar to the cost of other health care services. Clients pay co-pays and may need to satisfy a plan’s deductible before benefits kick in.

What is the difference between In-Network and Out-of-Network insurance coverage?
An in-network provider has contracted with an insurer to get paid directly for services, and to accept the insurer’s rate of compensation. Clients are responsible for deductibles and copays. If a therapist is out of network, that means that the client pays the therapist directly for services at the therapist’s regular fee. Out-of-Network providers often give clients a receipt so that they can file for partial reimbursement with their insurance company.

Is it difficult to find an In-Network therapist?
It is not unusual for therapists to limit the number of insurance patients in their practice, so it’s important to check in-network availability when you schedule your first appointment. In regions and times where therapy is in high demand it may take longer to get scheduled with an in-network therapist.

What is the difference between HMO and PPO insurance plans?
HMO health plans only cover in-network services, there is no reimbursement for out-of-network providers. PPO plans often cover both in- and out-of-network services, though the client may pay more for out-of-network services.

What is a Superbill?
A superbill is a receipt for therapy services. It provides all the information required by insurance companies to reimburse you for out-of-network services, including the diagnostic codes for your care, the amount paid, and the dates and duration of care.

Does insurance cover Online therapy?
Many therapists who shifted their practice to online therapy during the pandemic have kept that arrangement. And most insurers continue to cover telehealth services, with a few exceptions. Preventive care (such as an annual depression screening) is often required to be in-person to be covered, and some states require prescribers of controlled substances to see those patients in person.

Does insurance cover Group therapy?
Many insurance plans provide coverage for group therapy provided there is a medical diagnosis for group members, but there are some noteworthy exceptions. For example, Medicare does not always cover group therapy. Group therapy tends to cost less than individual therapy.

Does insurance cover Couples therapy?
Most insurance companies do not cover the cost of couples therapy because there is no medical diagnosis or medically necessary treatment. However, a few plans will offer a limited benefit, so it is still worth checking with your insurance company. Sometimes therapy is covered for a couple when one person has a diagnosis and another family member joins them for joint therapy, but it is considered therapy for the medical condition that includes a family member as a listener or helper, not couples counseling. Without insurance, most clients pay between $100-300 per 60-90 min session for couples therapy. Often clients can find classes or workshops that make it more affordable to work on their relationship. And some employers offer benefit plans that help defray the cost of couples therapy. Learn more about Insurance Coverage and Finding Affordable Therapy
