Life is too short to live in constant anxiety and mentally beating ourselves up. My goal is to help people build more self-compassion and self-confidence to regain control of their mental health and lives. Sometimes we can be our own worst enemies, but there is no benefit to something we unconsciously do on a daily basis. So why do we do it? Let's explore some of those reasons together and identify steps to take to address this emotionally draining behavior.

Before becoming a therapist, I spent nearly a decade as a school counselor, working with teens facing mental health challenges.
Parenting can be one of the most rewarding and exhausting things you’ll ever do. Whether you’re going through the ups and downs of pregnancy, adjusting to life after birth, or trying to support a child who’s struggling, it can feel like a lot to carry on your own. I help parents, caregivers, and moms navigating pregnancy and postpartum find steadiness in the middle of all that chaos. Together, we work on building connection, calming the overwhelm, and finding practical ways to feel more grounded day to day.

Healthy relationships with ourselves and others are some of the greatest indicators of overall well-being. We are hardwired for connection, and some of our most profound healing experiences and deepest emotional wounds happen with those closest to us. I use an attachment framework and trauma-informed lens to help you explore your attachment history, recognize your views of self and others, identify patterns that contribute to gridlock issues, and then work to communicate your needs in new ways that strengthen connection, trust, and security with yourself and in your present and future relationships. Refer to my website bio for more.

Alongside my work with children, I also enjoy supporting Muslim women, teens, and adults.
I have long been drawn to working with children and families. My experiences as a teacher and caregiver showed me how closely children’s well-being is tied to safe, nurturing relationships, and how play can be a powerful tool for expression and growth.

I believe in the inherent glory, beauty, and strength within each individual. While this may sound idealistic, it's undeniable that our lives often encompass brokenness, pain, darkness, and shame, which can obscure our true essence. My hope is to guide you through understanding your personal narrative or "mythos" that has sculpted your identity. This involves exploring your self-perception, spiritual beliefs, and interactions with the world. I am committed to journeying with you through the depths of pain and darkness to uncover the profound truth of our existence - that we are intimately known and cherished by God.

Facing hardships is something we all have in common. How each of us experience those hardships varies based on who we are, where we come from, what expectations we may have had, and what information we had at the time. Sometimes the hardship was not feeling safe growing up, for example not feeling like you could be yourself or being bullied. A hardship could also be a medical diagnosis, a car accident, being the victim or witness to a crime, a phobia, losing a loved one...and the list goes on. If you are ready to face what hardships you have experienced and how it’s impacted you, I would be honored to help you in this journey.

Teen Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.
How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.
How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.
How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
