Many couples reach a point where the same arguments keep happening, communication breaks down, and the relationship begins to feel more frustrating than supportive. If you and your partner feel stuck in these patterns, couples counseling can help you slow things down, understand what is happening beneath the conflict, and begin rebuilding connection. I provide couples counseling for partners wanting to strengthen their relationship. Together we identify the patterns that keep couples unhappy. I also work with individuals and families facing challenge in life, whether it is depression, anxiety or addiction.

Learning about ourselves is a lifelong process. We tend to think that we are steadfast beings, stuck in our ways. I believe that we are all capable of connecting deeper with ourselves and the world around us through curiosity, creativity, and relationship-building. Therapy hopefully becomes a place where you learn to care for and integrate each part of yourself as you navigate the complex dialectics of life: fear and courage, acceptance and change, beauty and pain. Contradictions are uncomfortable, but must co-exist. “I still don’t understand the play…” “It doesn’t matter, just keep telling the story” - Wes Anderson, Asteroid City

I provide a safe and comfortable place to explore what is troubling you. This includes identifying what you’re struggling with and discovering your natural strengths. Successful therapy includes identifying what you would like to change AND what you are doing well. Everyone experiences pain and we all deserve a safe place to heal and find what we need to create (or re-create) a life that feels meaningful. When life becomes painful and challenging, it’s normal to feel imbalanced and hopeless that you will ever feel whole again. I believe you can feel whole again.

You've tried the coping strategies, the mindset work, the processing, but it didn't get you the results you were looking for. You feel deeply and think critically but often find yourself stuck or disconnected—from yourself, others, or your purpose. You’re not just looking to manage symptoms; you want to understand the root of your patterns and create meaningful change. You're looking for something different - something outside of the typical therapy paradigm and are ready to dive deep. Maybe you are an eldest daughter or just have no idea who you are, but you want to figure it all out so you can feel FREE.

Not Accepting New Clients... Well, if thinking could rid you of your problems you would have been freed long ago because. It is time to identify the root issues, confront the pain and fear from the past so you can move forward. Somatic therapy allows you to think, feel and move through stuck issues. It is time to live out your values with integrity and have meaningful connections with yourself, your loved ones and your community. It's time to be done with unresolved trauma and move on to bigger and better things.

Codependency Therapists
What therapy types help with codependency problems?
Both couples and family therapy and cognitive and behavioral therapy (CBT) can help with the relationship difficulties referred to as codependency. Such problems typically include inappropriate feelings of responsibility for a loved one’s destructive behavior, irrational patterns of thinking about such behavior, and family interaction patterns in which the needs of one troubled member override the needs of others in a household.

What happens in therapy for codependency?
Spouses and family members learn and practice how to interact and support each other in a healthy way without sacrificing their own needs or well-being. They learn the limits of their responsibility for their loved ones and correct faulty patterns of thinking and feeling that underlie codependent behavior. Individuals may be encouraged to nurture an array of social relationships and to cultivate their own talents and interests so that they develop a healthy sense of self outside the family.

How does therapy help a person or couple overcome codependency?
Therapy helps people establish healthy ways of being in a relationship. Spouses and family members learn how to nurture and support one another without sacrificing their own needs or allowing the needs of one person to dominate the dynamic. Individuals learn how to say no and set boundaries, and how to maintain their own identity and self-esteem. Therapy helps people understand that they are not responsible for the feelings and actions of others. It also helps individuals deal with the turbulence that can come from living with a person suffering from such conditions as substance abuse and mental illness.

What is the goal of therapy for codependency?
One goal of therapy for codependency is to alleviate feelings of responsibility for and correct irrational patterns of thinking about loved ones whose behavioral problems override the needs of others in a household. Therapy helps people establish healthy boundaries of behavior and speak up for their own needs in a relationship. In addition, people learn how to maintain a healthy relationship, one in which both parties give and receive equally and are able to retain their own identity.
