My greatest joy is to help people find their inner voice and personal power. Trained and Certified in Emotionally Focused Therapy, I work with both individuals and couples. Looking at attachment patterns that are unconsciously learned in childhood, we will see where and how those patterns play out in your life and how they hold you in unhealthy beliefs. Together, we will unravel the thought processes that thrive in judgment, scarcity, blame, and fear. I truly believe the healing process toward change occurs once YOU gain insight into yourself.

As a therapist, my goal is to allow you to be who you are right now, using a lot of empathy (and well-meaning humor) as well as structure and direction, when necessary. My approach is one of curiosity about you and your ideal self and future. I am typically pretty direct in my approach, which people tend to really appreciate and enjoy! Working together, we will identify and collaborate on goals and how to move you towards them. I would be honored to assist you on your health and wellness journey. Check out my interview on MPR: https://www.mprnews.org/episode/2020/03/24/davis-tips-for-staying-resilient-during-the-covid19-pandemic

My approach to therapy is relational, integrative, and tailored to each person. I believe deeply in people’s capacity to change and offer compassionate, non-judgmental support grounded in years of experience treating trauma (including PTSD with Prolonged Exposure), anxiety, and substance-use–related concerns. I bring humor and humanity into the work because therapy is easier when we can relax. If I’m not the right fit, I’ll help guide you to someone who is.

I help women use the wisdom of their own bodies to heal from traumas large and small. I believe unrecognized trauma is the core and cause of much suffering women experience in daily life. I also believe, no matter your past experiences or your story, that you have the innate ability to feel whole again.

"To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment." Ralph Waldo Emerson. Many people that pursue psychotherapy do so because they feel stuck. The goal of therapy is the clarification of what we actually think and feel toward the goal of getting unstuck, and becoming who you are meant to be. Life presents challenges. If this is where you are, you're probably right on track. I also have extensive experience in addictive behaviors that prevent us from moving forward. (LIVE VIDEO OPTION AVAILABLE. OFFICE LOCATION: EDINA)

Transpersonal Therapists
How does transpersonal therapy work?
Transpersonal therapy focuses on a patient’s spirituality and meaning in life. Transpersonal therapists might borrow from Eastern traditions as well as Western psychology. They may incorporate techniques including meditation, visualization, hypnotherapy, dream analysis, and or breathwork to produce altered states of consciousness. The therapist helps the patient to access their consciousness and spirituality to work through difficult mental states.

How long does transpersonal therapy last?
Because the goal is to understand a person as a whole, including their spirituality, treatment can range from months to a year or beyond. While patients learn the philosophy behind transpersonal therapy during treatment, they can also practice its principles throughout life after therapy sessions have ended.

Is transpersonal therapy effective?
Patients have found success with transpersonal therapy; this method is useful in improving anxiety, depression, self-esteem, identity, fears, relationship problems, and other concerns. Improvements in problem areas can continue even after transpersonal therapy ends, as individuals can utilize the tools they’ve learned during treatment sessions.

What are the limitations of transpersonal therapy?
There is some research on the effectiveness of transpersonal therapy, but empirical support for this therapy approach is sparse. It does not have the robust evidence base of other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy.
