I especially love working with sexual concerns, challenges around parenting, infidelity, blended families, and ADHD.
My specialty is working with couples and individuals to strengthen their mental health through building secure attachments with themselves and others. Together we explore life experiences that have led to feelings of attachment insecurity and we work to build new experiences of emotionally safety and security. With couples, we explore places they get stuck and help create new communication patterns and a deeper connection to strengthen their bonds. I also work with individuals who are struggling with relationships challenges including healing from antagonistic/narcississtic relationships.

Research shows consistently that no matter what counseling method is used, the connection between you & your therapist is the essential factor in feeling better about yourself and your life. I create a safe and supportive relationship with people. It is important that you feel heard, acknowledged & supported. This is the significant ingredient for your personal relationship transformation. In addition to deep listening, learning how to be resilient and knowing that you can support yourself through life's challenges will give you a sense of empowerment and self-esteem. I am active in the sessions, warm, supportive & practical.

It is my honor to walk beside people during the more difficult times in their lives and help them make sense of their stories. As a trained outside voice, I am here to help you when you get stuck and disconnected. I believe that we are not meant to do this life alone — the more support we have, the stronger we are. When we get help, it lightens the load. My primary clinical interests are working with trauma, working with relationship problems and working with military families. I enjoy working with individuals, couples and families.

Understanding that it can be difficult to take this step to wellness, I believe it is important to establish a trusting therapeutic relationship with the client as without this, it can be difficult to help implement change. I also believe that helping clients see their potential to implement change and resolve their issues is very empowering. Each client holds that potential within and they need encouragement and support as they begin to discover this and come to resolutions. Some clients may believe that their issues define who they are and stuggle to separate the two. New confidence can change this.

We believe emotional wellness matters (a lot), and that everyone has the right to make it a priority. Unfortunately, it’s not always that simple. So many questions can get in the way. Maybe you’ve even asked them yourself: Is this normal? Can talking to someone really help me? What is therapy all about, anyway? What would people say if they knew I was going? How do I find the right therapist? Will I be comfortable there? When will I find the time? Will my insurance pay for this? If this sounds like you, you’re not alone. And we can help. The journey to emotional health begins with discovering and nurturing the authentic self. When we make choices that are inconsistent with who we are, our ability to participate in life, to love and work is compromised. This can often lead to avoiding the things that truly matter to us causing us to feel depressed or anxious. When this happens, we tend to avoid more. And the cycle continues. In my work, I help clients (ages 16+) re-engage with life focusing on their values and what matters most to them.

Infidelity Therapists
How does therapy for infidelity work?
A skilled infidelity therapist will provide a safe space for clients to communicate their feelings and concerns. The goal is to be completely honest about what led to the cheating and how it has affected the entire family to prevent it from recurring in the future. The therapist will help the clients work on rebuilding mutual trust and respect and developing better communication and conflict-resolution skills. If the goal is to remain a couple, clients will learn the “danger signs” for their specific relationship, and they will make a renewed commitment to be faithful.
How long does therapy for infidelity take?
Recovery from infidelity can take time, and it can vary from person to person. Generally, a therapist will want to see the clients at least once a week for around six months. Then the sessions can be arranged as needed, depending on the clients’ individual needs. While therapy may end or shift to an as-needed basis, it can take up to two years or more for some clients to fully recover from infidelity.
How does therapy help the partner who was cheated on?
When a client discovers their partner’s infidelity, their trust in the relationship and in the life they had together may be shattered. They often experience mental health symptoms, such as anxiety, depression, grief, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). They don’t always want to stay in the relationship; they may feel ambivalent or may even want to leave. Therapy gives these clients a safe and healthy way to communicate all of their complicated emotions and concerns.
How does therapy help the partner who committed infidelity?
Infidelity often occurs when one or both partners’ emotional needs are not being met in the relationship. Therapy can help this client understand why they cheated and figure out how to address those unmet needs without resorting to infidelity in the future. This can lessen (but not entirely eliminate) the risk of repeated infidelity. Clients who cheat may also feel intense guilt about deceiving their partners, a sentiment that they can work through in therapy.
