Hi there! I'm Courtney, a licensed therapist passionate about helping adolescents and adults navigate life’s most challenging moments with courage and compassion. Many of the people I work with come to therapy seeking support for depression, anxiety, trauma, and co-occurring substance use concerns, struggling with the emotional, relational, and behavioral patterns. I also have experience supporting individuals facing performance-related stress, motivation challenges, and identity concerns connected to sports and athletics.

I am passionate about supporting individuals who are motivated to find their voice, connect with their authenticity, and learn how to maintain a strong sense of self in their relationships. I believe in showing up as my genuine self in sessions, creating a space that fosters comfort, ease, and reflection. Through self- discovery and personal empowerment, we will explore your inner strengths together. In my work with couples, I help identify and overcome barriers to healthy communication. Together, we focus on resolving conflicts and building a stronger, more connected relationship.

I enjoy working with relational problems centered on attachment and codependency, complex and childhood trauma, late-diagnosed ADHD or those suspecting ADHD, and overall improving the relationship to emotions to better navigate life's ups and downs.
Finding yourself stuck in patterns and cycles that you struggle to get out of, let alone have hope for to change? These patterns might be a well-rehearsed dance with another person or even a full cast of characters, or your internal world rippling outward into your life. By increasing awareness and understanding of what's within you and of the dynamics within your relationships, you can learn to disengage from the ineffective and instead move intentionally toward a more functional, fulfilling way of being.

Many of the people I work with are professionals who have lives that look successful from the outside. They have careers, families, responsibilities, and people who depend on them. Yet beneath the surface, they feel exhausted, disconnected, or trapped in patterns they can't seem to change. Some are struggling with alcohol or other substances. Others are dealing with anxiety, burnout, depression, relationship challenges, or simply the feeling that life has become something to survive rather than enjoy. They've often tried therapy before and gained insight or coping skills, but they're looking for something deeper and more lasting.

I work with adult individuals (25+) and partners in relationships who are emotionally attuned but often exhausted—due to chronic overfunctioning, people-pleasing, or feeling disconnected from their own feelings and needs. Many carry relational wounds, identity pain, and/or the fearful beliefs that they are “too much” or “not enough”. My deepest calling is to support people in reclaiming the parts of themselves that have never felt fully seen, understood, or celebrated. I believe healing begins in spaces where we can slow down, feel safe enough to be witnessed in our rawness, and build more honest connections—with others and within.

Life can feel overwhelming for a lot of reasons. Sometimes it’s trauma or grief. Sometimes it’s living with a chronic illness, caring for everyone else, or simply carrying too much for too long. You don’t have to have it all figured out before you reach out; that’s what we’ll do together. My goal is to help you understand what’s happening in your mind, body, and nervous system so things finally start to make sense. Then we’ll build practical tools that help you move forward with more confidence and less overwhelm. I specialize in treating trauma, grief & loss, chronic illness, and caregiver burnout.

It is my honor to walk beside people during the more difficult times in their lives and help them make sense of their stories. As a trained outside voice, I am here to help you when you get stuck and disconnected. I believe that we are not meant to do this life alone — the more support we have, the stronger we are. When we get help, it lightens the load. My primary clinical interests are working with trauma, working with relationship problems and working with families. I enjoy working with individuals, couples and families.

Please note: limited daytime availability. If you're here, I applaud you. I understand the decision to see a therapist has many different starting points and it's not always an easy path getting here. Perhaps this is your first time seeking therapy and perhaps you've sought therapy before. No matter where you may be on your journey, I would be honored to support you. Life can be hard and experiences can feed us many lies that cause us to believe we are broken, crazy, or damaged. It is important to me that all of my clients realize the truth that they are worthy, loveable, capable, and resilient.

What therapy types help with codependency problems?
Both couples and family therapy and cognitive and behavioral therapy (CBT) can help with the relationship difficulties referred to as codependency. Such problems typically include inappropriate feelings of responsibility for a loved one’s destructive behavior, irrational patterns of thinking about such behavior, and family interaction patterns in which the needs of one troubled member override the needs of others in a household.

What happens in therapy for codependency?
Spouses and family members learn and practice how to interact and support each other in a healthy way without sacrificing their own needs or well-being. They learn the limits of their responsibility for their loved ones and correct faulty patterns of thinking and feeling that underlie codependent behavior. Individuals may be encouraged to nurture an array of social relationships and to cultivate their own talents and interests so that they develop a healthy sense of self outside the family.

How does therapy help a person or couple overcome codependency?
Therapy helps people establish healthy ways of being in a relationship. Spouses and family members learn how to nurture and support one another without sacrificing their own needs or allowing the needs of one person to dominate the dynamic. Individuals learn how to say no and set boundaries, and how to maintain their own identity and self-esteem. Therapy helps people understand that they are not responsible for the feelings and actions of others. It also helps individuals deal with the turbulence that can come from living with a person suffering from such conditions as substance abuse and mental illness.

What is the goal of therapy for codependency?
One goal of therapy for codependency is to alleviate feelings of responsibility for and correct irrational patterns of thinking about loved ones whose behavioral problems override the needs of others in a household. Therapy helps people establish healthy boundaries of behavior and speak up for their own needs in a relationship. In addition, people learn how to maintain a healthy relationship, one in which both parties give and receive equally and are able to retain their own identity.
