You may look capable on the outside yet feel anxious, disconnected, or stuck in patterns that don’t reflect who you truly are. Many of my clients are navigating trauma, attachment wounds, ADHD, relationship strain, identity questions, or major life transitions. I help thoughtful adults untangle self-criticism, people-pleasing, perfectionism, and emotional overwhelm so they can reconnect with their values and feel more grounded. Therapy with me is a space to slow down, understand your story, and create meaningful, sustainable change.

I think we can make good progress on many problems by paying close attention (mindfulness), having a better understanding of the situation (DBT, systems, existential, Jungian), and helping our thoughts, feelings, and actions match (narrative, integrative, gestalt).
Ideally our everyday lives would provide the opportunities, relationships, and help we need.
We are meant to run ideas past each other regularly to try to get to a better understanding, and it is often easier to care when others care with us. This isn’t so easy to do it alone, in our own heads. Sometimes life can be like a catch 22, things can get stuck, and our heads spin. Really looking at life with others can be hard if we don’t have the time, understanding, patience, compassion, or calm to do it. And some people have their own issues, or agenda, and may put that onto us.

My ideal clients are teens and adults who feel like they've been swimming upstream — often without knowing why. Many are navigating ADHD or Autism, carrying the weight of years spent masking or misunderstood. Others are processing trauma, chronic anxiety, or a life transition that's left them unsteady. What they share is a readiness to understand themselves more deeply and a desire for therapy that meets them where they actually are — not where they "should" be. They want real tools, genuine connection, and a space where their whole self is welcome.

My ideal client is an individual who has experienced intense stress, pain, and wounding within their life and is striving to lessen these forces and strengthen the path they are on. Many of my clients have had experiences with substances or psychedelics that they used on their own to try to access their inner parts, and some have also had extremely powerful or distressing psychedelic experiences they are now working to integrate and organize. These clients are trying to balance genuine insight with the confusions of trauma and the needs of many internal parts that do not always cooperate gently.

Gestalt Therapists
What is gestalt therapy?
Gestalt therapy is based on the idea that to address unresolved negative feelings, emotions must be not only discussed but also actively expressed in the present moment. The term is from a German word meaning “whole,” and gestalt therapists believe that people should be considered whole entities made up of mind, body, and emotions. Gestalt sessions are rooted in the notion that a client’s total self must be discovered, explored, and confronted, so that they can take greater responsibility for themselves and their behavior, learn to satisfy their own needs while still respecting the needs of others, and reconnect with feelings they might otherwise deny.
How does gestalt therapy work?
Gestalt therapy sessions do not just involve talking with a therapist. Clients may take part in role-playing, re-enactment, or artistic exercises like drawing and painting, with the goal of becoming more aware of negative thought patterns that limit happiness. One common gestalt exercise is “the empty chair,” in which a client sits across from an empty chair representing a partner, relative, boss, or a part of themselves—and, with the therapist’s encouragement, improvises a dialog with it. The intention is to bring the emotions raised by past conflicts into the present and work through them in the moment.
How long does gestalt therapy last?
As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for gestalt therapy; people who believe that they are making progress typically continue until they feel they’ve addressed the issues that had been holding them back. New patients should understand that it may take some time to become comfortable with gestalt exercises but once they do, they should expect sessions to extend for a number of months, typically spanning at least 12 sessions.
Does gestalt therapy work?
Gestalt therapy has generally been found to be as effective as other forms of talk therapy in helping people living with anxiety, depression, phobias, bipolar disorder, and substance use disorders, as well as helping individuals reduce conflict in relationships. Gestalt techniques, on their own or in combination with other therapies, can also be effective in managing physical ailments including ulcerative colitis, migraines, and back spasms. It should be noted that some people may have trouble adapting to gestalt therapy’s lack of formal structure or to a therapist’s close observations of their body language and emotions; others may struggle to commit to techniques that feel unnatural, like the empty chair exercise.
