I work with individuals, couples, and families who feel stuck in relationships or life transitions. Many seek stronger communication, deeper intimacy, and healthier ways to manage conflict. Others work through the impact of trauma, stress, or past experiences that keep resurfacing. As a licensed marriage and family therapist with experience in inpatient and outpatient settings, I bring a systemic perspective—helping clients see not just challenges, but also the strengths and resources they already carry. My role is to uncover those answers so clients can move toward their goals with clarity and confidence.

Do you feel anxious, disconnected, or exhausted — even when life seems “fine”? Maybe your body feels tense, your sleep is disrupted, or you're caught in patterns you can’t explain. You might’ve left behind harmful religious, relationships or family systems, but the shame, fear, or self-doubt still lingers. These are common effects of unresolved trauma — including religious trauma, sexual trauma, or other overwhelming experiences. You’re not broken. Your symptoms are your nervous system’s way of trying to protect you.

I also support couples facing communication challenges, disconnection, and infidelity and the complexities of separation or divorce.
I often use different approaches to best fit the needs of my patients though I come from a relational psychodynamic background and I hope to collaborate with patients to explore how early relationships, protective strategies, and unconscious dynamics shape current struggles and patterns.

Maddie is such a compassionate and present person. Talking with her is like talking with a friend by a lake on a summer evening: chill, relaxed, and insightful. Some people are born for this work, and Maddie is one of those people. She really dives in deep with her clients to try to learn what is going on, why her clients are stuck in that place, and what is needed to make change.

It takes a lot of guts to become a therapist as a second career. But, when you are as driven, passionate, and caring as Mike, it makes sense why he did it. He’s a natural and makes his clients feel at home right from the jump.

Infidelity Therapists

How does therapy for infidelity work?

A skilled infidelity therapist will provide a safe space for clients to communicate their feelings and concerns. The goal is to be completely honest about what led to the cheating and how it has affected the entire family to prevent it from recurring in the future. The therapist will help the clients work on rebuilding mutual trust and respect and developing better communication and conflict-resolution skills. If the goal is to remain a couple, clients will learn the “danger signs” for their specific relationship, and they will make a renewed commitment to be faithful.

How long does therapy for infidelity take?

Recovery from infidelity can take time, and it can vary from person to person. Generally, a therapist will want to see the clients at least once a week for around six months. Then the sessions can be arranged as needed, depending on the clients’ individual needs. While therapy may end or shift to an as-needed basis, it can take up to two years or more for some clients to fully recover from infidelity.

How does therapy help the partner who was cheated on?

When a client discovers their partner’s infidelity, their trust in the relationship and in the life they had together may be shattered. They often experience mental health symptoms, such as anxiety, depression, grief, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). They don’t always want to stay in the relationship; they may feel ambivalent or may even want to leave. Therapy gives these clients a safe and healthy way to communicate all of their complicated emotions and concerns.

How does therapy help the partner who committed infidelity?

Infidelity often occurs when one or both partners’ emotional needs are not being met in the relationship. Therapy can help this client understand why they cheated and figure out how to address those unmet needs without resorting to infidelity in the future. This can lessen (but not entirely eliminate) the risk of repeated infidelity. Clients who cheat may also feel intense guilt about deceiving their partners, a sentiment that they can work through in therapy.
