Some of nature's most fascinating creatures transform only when in stifling darkness, emerging as more brilliant & expressive versions of themselves. Let's embrace our own challenges as transformative opportunities! I'm a great fit for ages 17+ seeking support in their personal growth while incorporating their own interests, natural talents & spirituality into traditional therapy methods (primarily CBT). I honor all forms of spirituality though I am mostly familiar with Mysticism and Christianity. I am always excited to work with clients who want to leverage their artistic abilities and/or spirituality in therapy.

Many of us find ourselves in need of emotional support at some point in our lives. Finding someone to truly listen, hear, and validate those experiences can be a challenge. My mission is to provide a safe, confidential space for those navigating life’s most difficult transitions. Finding a therapist is a deeply personal process, and that fit, is often the most important factor in how effective the treatment actually is. It’s not just about their credentials on paper; it’s about that "click" where you feel truly heard and understood.

Schedule a free consultation with me to lessen some of those fears and let's find out how I can help.
You've spent a long time trying to figure out why the same things keep happening. Why the same kinds of people show up. Why you work so hard in relationships and still end up hurt, drained, or alone. You're not checked out, you're actually paying close attention to everyone around you. You just can't seem to turn it off. You hold it together really well from the outside, but inside, your brain doesn't stop. The overthinking, the people-pleasing, the way conflict makes you shut down or over-explain. You've wondered if this is just who you are. It's not.

Ultimately, we want to experience intimacy rather than compulsively playing "games" and collecting racket feelings (inadequacy, depression, rage, anxiety, indignation, etc.).
I specialize in couples therapy. To improve your relationship with your partner you will learn how you adapted as a child. This helps us determine what the target of therapy is based on your personality adaptation: thinking, feeling, or behavior. You will learn to communicate empathically with your partner based on their preferred channel of communication.

Four words represent the heart of my counseling focus while working with adults and couples for over 25 years. These words are: Hurts, Habits, Home and Heaven. 1) HURTS are past or recent wounds that a person needs help and healing from; 2) HABITS are repetitive and unwanted emotions, thoughts and activities that control a person; 3) HOME represents our most important relationships between partners, spouses and friends, but where confusion, conflict and disconnection can occur; and 4) HEAVEN represents the importance of one's faith in God for finding love, direction, and assurance that we matter in this life and beyond.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
