I believe personal agency is key to finding meaning in distressing scenarios and growing from them. I use both Existential and solution-oriented approaches when engaging with clients and provide individuals, couples, and families with tools for self-awareness and self-empowerment through a mixture of theoretical models tailored to the client’s strengths and needs. I work to help clients establish more adaptive patterns of thinking with humor, empathy, and respect. While I will explore root causes of issues, I emphasize the importance of personal growth and identifying personal strengths.

Who you are and what you have experienced are unique, and so will your path to healing. Whether it is a specific problem in your life, a deeper issue that impacts your relationships or if you are uncertain about your goals, I will work with you to develop strategies for growth and change.

Hello, my name is Max and I have worked as a licensed counselor for the past 20 years. The focus of my work is to help people develop the skills and use the tools they need to overcome anxiety, depression, and trauma. I value helping people befriend their mind and their body. What allows change is space. Space to be. Space to be heard. Space to be free. I use my experience with somatic and parts work to help people make space inside themselves for their thoughts, feelings, and actions. Through these exercises, it allows them to have room for a new chapter of healing.

I know no one who is "accidentally" in counseling or therapy. Thus, this step and this choice is often quite difficult. I embrace building rapport with my clients in a way that allows us to engage in a collaboration of unique, innovative and effective techniques to overcome the challenges, problems and/or difficulties they are facing, whether in their social, personal, or business life. I take pride in listening to my clients and trying to provide them thoughtful tools they can use long after our sessions are complete.

Are you contemplating therapy? Asking yourself if you really need it? The decision to participate in therapy is very personal and rarely straightforward. The majority of clients I work with are competent, well-functioning individuals who are struggling in some way or are feeling dissatisfied, unhappy, or stuck. Whether it's regarding a past experience, your everyday life, your relationship, fears about the future, or something more devastating or extraordinary, therapy can help.

Albert Einstein remarked, “Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving”. At various times in our life we find ourselves challenged to do just that as we struggle to make it through the day. Using a strengths-based perspective, I will collaborate with you to understand and confront your unique challenges and empower you to find the inner strength and resources to facilitate positive healing change so you can keep moving forward. I firmly believe that while change is inevitable, being paralyzed by change is not and you have the power to construct your own unique pathway to optimal health and wellness.

The choice to invest in yourself and make changes can be a difficult decision. It takes a certain level of strength and vulnerability in deciding to start therapy. I believe that healing is a journey that begins with your individual strengths, and I am grateful to be part of that path. I provide a warm and welcoming space for you to explore your own relationships, thoughts, emotions, and beliefs to reach your best self. This is a space to be heard, understood, and to find healing.

I am a licensed psychologist and addictions counselor. My specialty is treating social anxiety. People with social anxiety suffer from unmanageable levels of tension when interacting with others. Everything that makes life wonderful – friendship, love relationships, academic and career success – can fail to develop because of high levels of social anxiety. Social anxiety often appears with autism, abuse and neglect in childhood, alcohol addiction, and depression. I focus my practice on this cluster of issues.

Honestly, Chris is just a really cool and chill guy. This makes him so easy to open-up to. No judgement, no lectures, just progress. He is well-liked around ALL IN Therapy Clinic. After meeting him, it should be easy to see why. He's a really relaxed guy who is super easy to talk to.

Honestly, he’s a really great guy. Chris is the type of therapist that can help you work through some real, heavy stuff, but he can also have you laughing right after (He does improv comedy. Like, what? Awesome!). And, as he would say, "But, I’m also hardcore nerdy and love building an authentic, lighthearted relationship with clients. I love to talk video games, the MN Twins, comedy, and anything alternative. So, I dig it all.”

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
