Trauma Focused Therapists in Minneapolis, MN
Are anxiety, phobias, or OCD interfering with your life, relationships, or sense of self? I specialize in helping children, teens, and young adults (ages 8–28) build effective strategies to face fears, increase self-awareness, and live more fully.
I use a strength-based, compassionate approach rooted in evidence-based therapies, including CBT, ERP (Exposure and Response Prevention), and Inference-Based CBT for OCD. I also draw from Eastern psychology, integrating mindfulness and yoga practices when appropriate. I help clients find “brave moments” and expand their lives based on what matters most to them.

Life developments, whether related to transitions, trauma, or daily occurrences, can lead to us feeling alienated from ourselves - but through therapy we reinforce our ability to right our ship and navigate the obstacles we are facing. Alongside robust experience supporting clients address anxiety and depression, I have particular interest helping individuals navigate life transitions, perinatal/postpartum, intimacy concerns, fatherhood, relationship dynamics, grief/trauma, and tech addiction.

Art Therapy of MN is a neurodivergent-affirming group practice, and most of our providers identify as being a part of the neurodivergent community themselves. Our art therapists and providers utilize a trauma-informed, inclusive, affirming lens of care. Being neurodivergent or within any marginalized group in our society can be chronically distressing, stigmatizing, discriminatory and traumatizing. Brains can be different, but they are not less.

I see therapy not as a surgical procedure to fix brokenness, but rather as a process similar to exercise—aimed at enhancing our existing strengths, resilience, and capacity for growth. I work to cultivate a safe space where individuals can sift through the noise of every day stress and painful memories of the past to discover new pathways forward. I strive to understand clients’ stories within the context of the many different systems surrounding them. I believe that our collective healing and liberation is tied to one another and that therapy can help us to reconnect to ourselves so we can better show up in our community.

I am a trauma-informed bodyworker and Somatic Experiencing Practitioner offering a body-centered approach for the healing of trauma and chronic pain. Traditional therapy approaches often have difficulty addressing the bodily effects of trauma, anxiety and depression. Habits and patterns that get "stuck" in the body can keep these types of issues from resolving, even after many years of successful therapy. As an adjunct to traditional therapy, my body-centered approach to Somatic Experiencing provides a unique opportunity to support the physical integration of mental and emotional change that help people recovering from trauma to truly FEEL better.
