Have a few open spots. My life experiences have given me the gift of being Inter-Sectional. I know that a person has many parts of their life, that makes up the individual. Everyone has a story to tell. I work to empower my clients to see themselves as Whole beings with gifts to give the world. I specialize and hold certifications in the following: Trauma Informed care and healing, Self-esteem building, Anxiety Treatment, Cognitive Behavioral, Narrative Exposure and Internal Family Systems Therapies. I operate from a social-justice perspective, and purposely create spaces for BIPOC people to do their healing work.

It's hard to be a human in general, and when mental health is struggling, it can feel impossible! I find that when we are struggling we can either feel controlled by emotions, or have trouble connecting with them. Sometimes it's hard to trust your yourself; You might not know how to move through life with everything going on. Having a safe place where you can be curious and let your emotions come out is incredibly important.

Hi! Rare immediate openings! I am the owner of Kos Counseling, and have been working in the mental health field for 20 years with an emphasis on serving LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC folks. I see clients of all ages, from teens to those well into adulthood. Many are neurodiverse. I help people to learn to manage symptoms while also getting more connected to themselves. I also help people navigate difficult relationships (family, friends, partners) in more productive ways. Sessions with me are filled with compassion, openness, realistic optimism, and a mix of sitting with the hardest emotions while also creating space to laugh.

Are you feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected—from yourself, your relationships, or your family? You don’t have to carry it alone. Therapy can be a powerful space to lay your burdens down, process what’s weighing on you, and step into the healing God desires for you. I’m a Mental Health Therapist who offers both virtual and in-person sessions, and I specialize in walking alongside individuals, couples, and families. For too long, many people feel left out of spaces designed to help them heal.

*Please email about availability* Therapy is not surgery; you don't go to sleep and wake up with all of your problems solved. The sweat and strain and heavy lifting are mostly yours. But with this, however, you can feel more satisfied with therapy when actively involved in the sessions. It is my role to work with your motivation & continue to foster this growth towards positive change. I operate from a person-centered approach, which emphasizes being genuine, providing unconditional positive regard, and empathic understanding in the efforts to foster our therapeutic connection to enhance this emotional & powerful relationship.

Every person needs a secure space where they can become their most authentic selves. I strive to approach therapy with radical genuineness, compassion, warmth, and humor. I believe that therapy at its best is a creative, judgment-free space between equals. This creates an environment where you can be yourself and learn to manage thoughts and emotions getting in your way. I like to incorporate techniques from DBT, ACT, Person-Centered Therapy, Anchored Relational Therapy, body-centered approaches, sports psychology, body positivity, trauma-informed practices, and a dash of geek culture references.

She remembered who she was and the game changed - Lalah Delia - Deciding to seek therapy can stir up all kinds of emotions. Maybe it’s been a long time coming, perhaps the thing you used to do to get by isn’t working anymore, or maybe life recently threw you a difficult curve ball. Either way, it can feel isolating trying to figure it out alone. Friends and family can be helpful, though sometimes you just need a safe space of your own to regroup and a safe person to walk with you while you do the hard work.

I consider it an honor to be allowed entry into someone's life as a therapist. People come to me when some suffering or limitation has opened them up enough to ask a perfect stranger for help. My hope is to provide a safe and respectful place for them to begin to look at the various strands of their lives and stories. Then, as we unravel past and present contributions to the fabric of their lives, we can examine these threads and, with new understanding, weave them back together into a new tapestry which includes fresh possibilities.

I work with adults who may be struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship conflict, ADHD, trauma, and life transitions. I also enjoy supporting parents. After years of working directly with children and families, I’ve come to deeply value the essential role parents play in shaping emotional development, family dynamics, and lasting change. I work with parents- both individually and as part of a couple — who are navigating the complex, often overwhelming demands of parenting, relationships, and personal growth.

Self-Harming Therapists

How does therapy for self-harm work?

A person may turn to self-injury so that they can distract themselves from their stress, depression, anxiety, or upsetting circumstances. Therapy can address the cause of an individual’s suffering. A therapist can help a person understand why they may want to self-harm and help the person learn new methods of coping. A person may have poor emotion regulation, and treatment such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is helpful for breaking this behaviour. In addition, treatment such as dialectical behavior therapy can help a person manage their tolerance of distress.

Which therapies are best for self-harm?

Specific approaches used by professionals include cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavior, psychodynamic, and mentalisation-based therapies, among others. Cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavior therapies are common approaches for people who have painful thoughts and past traumas. These therapies help an individual cope with distress, regulate emotions, and manage impulsive urges.

Does the tendency to self-harm mean the person is suicidal?

Having this urge does not mean the individual suffers from suicidal ideation. People who want to self-injure look to distract or alleviate themselves from the pain they are experiencing. People with suicidal tendencies want to end life altogether. However, this does not mean a person with the intent to self-harm will not attempt suicide.

How often and how long are therapy sessions for self-harm?

As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual. Clients may see improvement within 20 sessions, at an average of 50 minutes per session, while others may opt for 20 to 30 sessions over, maybe, a six-month period. People, especially those with co-occurring conditions like depression and anxiety, may need to continue therapy for up to 12 to 18 months.
