Play Therapy in Minneapolis, MN

I support young children (birth - 5) using attachment and play-based approaches.
I work with adults and young children using a warm, collaborative approach. My adult specialties include anxiety, depression, perinatal mental health, parenting and bonding difficulties, NICU experiences, and abortion. I also value supporting single parents. Attachment, relational psychodynamic, and narrative frameworks guide my work with clients. I aim to foster growth by exploring past experiences, relationships and patterns within a secure therapeutic relationship. I'm also committed to practice through an anti-oppressive stance and recognize that many internal struggles are reflective of systemic, sociopolitical issues.

As a Marriage and Family Therapist since 2011, I have had the pleasure of providing services to individuals, families, and couples dealing with communication issues, intimacy concerns, family conflict, and marital instability. I offer solution-based work, often utilizing Gottman's Method, as well as in-depth work from an attachment and cognitive behavioral lens. Working together toward change, I place importance of the relationship with you in the therapy and emphasize getting to know you as an individual. We work toward your goals by exploring, not just your behavior, but the underlying feelings and thoughts which get in the way of your ability to make the changes you desire.

Please visit my site for more info & resources! Have you ever wondered about your adoption story? Has there ever been doubt, fear, anger, pain or confusion when it comes up? What’s it been like for you to process your personal experience of birth family, loss, grief, race, identity, or even those seemingly benign curiosities about your narrative that come up from time to time? For parents, of course you want to help your children as they embark on that path. This can often feel uncertain or overwhelming, with so many subtle nuances that feel way too complicated to handle without appropriate support.

It is my experience that the fullest, most satisfying healing involves our whole person, mind, body, and spirit. By focusing on patterns of movement in the body as well as thinking, we work together to achieve your goals for therapy. A body based and energetic focus is often a new and effective way for people to resolve issues that only talking about them did not reach. I look for resistance and protective actions that no longer serve a person. I emphasize developing aliveness in the body, feeling joyful, free, and peace.
