A queer, sex-positive therapist working under the supervision of Justine Mastin, LADC, LMFT, and Jessi Leader, LMFT, I enjoy working with individuals, couples, and family systems who are motivated for change but aren’t sure where to start. I especially love working with clients who have never been to therapy before or have had bad therapy experiences. Whether you’ve been in therapy for 20 years or are just beginning your therapeutic journey, I'm honored to work with you along the way. Please note that at this time I am unable to accept insurance and am private pay only.

I aim to help you make sense of your story and to see the big picture of lifelong patterns. I will work with you to identify the experiences and beliefs that have helped you so far and ask, “Are these helping me today or holding me back?”. We will work together to create meaning in your life and a plan for how you can create change. No matter the underlying issues of anxiety, depression, addiction, shame, attachment, abandonment – we will gain an understanding of how these issues affect your emotions, physical body responses, and relationships. Then, together we can rewrite the way these issues affect your whole self.

Whether clients are looking for support and encouragement to maximize strengths or need assistance in dealing with a wide variety of psychological issues, effective therapy begins with the formation of a relationship. I place an emphasis on meeting patients where they are, which includes taking into account environmental factors, culture, ethnicity, and family/interpersonal history. Then, collaborating together to understand goals, assets, and challenges in order to create a plan to solve problems and increase understanding. By integrating various theoretical approaches and utilizing current research from psychology and neuroscience, my goal is to provide effective individualized treatment.

I do analytic work in accord with training of the C. G. Jung Institut, Zurich. There is special attention to dreams, creativity, and attention to the unconscious. Depth psychology takes time, and people work diligently. In the process the whole personality is engaged. Jungian psychology is forward looking and may elucidate the way through difficult transition. I work for a reduced fee, in lieu of insurance payment. This is an opportunity to do Jungian Analysis at an affordable cost. I appreciate work with individuals that have done therapy, gained psychological understanding, and would like to go futher into depth psychology.

As a psychotherapist and LADC, I've worked with adults, adolescents, and families from all walks of life. My goal is to foster well-being in individuals and families. I seek to eliminate the stigma of shame and guilt associated with mental health and substance use, which leads to understanding, respectful conversations that enable healing.

Have you ever had that moment when you're at the mirror, staring at yourself and you wonder, “how did I get here?” Maybe you’re navigating a divorce/breakup, intense work stress, or having difficulty making sense of past trauma. Perhaps you struggle to "open up", or you rarely speak your mind because you're afraid of being judged or upsetting others. You may also be extremely hard on yourself, to the point you’ve become your own worst enemy. So, to cope with all of this, you might turn to substance abuse, overworking, isolation, or spend too much time gaming. But what if it doesn't have to be this way?

Licensed and serving clients in both Minnesota and Wisconsin, my focus in therapy is to: 1) assist clients to clearly identify the root causes of the challenges and difficulties they are facing; 2) ensure client safety and stability, and; 3) work with each client to identify solutions which they feel will best address and resolve their unique life situations. I do not use a one-size-fits-all, or cookie-cutter approach. I work relationally and collaboratively, helping each individual hold themselves accountable for gaining the skills they need to successfully navigate their own life journey with all of its challenges and successes.

My background includes working with individuals suffering from PTSD and other trauma-related disorders, as well as chemically dependent populations. With that being said, I am willing to work alongside anyone looking for a support or to make a change in their life. I have more clinical experience working with adolescent individuals and adult males, but am open to working with a more diverse range of ages, genders, and background

Men's Issues Therapists
Is therapy for men different than it is for women?
Therapeutic treatments and types are the same for men as they are for women, with the same protocols followed and the same strategies employed. Discussing one’s feelings and emotions is an integral part of most therapies, and some men find doing so more challenging. Therapists can help clients through the process; some specialize in treating men for this reason.
How do you encourage a man to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either himself or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
How can men prepare for therapy?
Men can prepare for therapy by approaching the process with an open mind, being willing to talk about their challenges, and giving treatment the time to work. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. It can be useful for men who struggle to recall their emotional states to write down notes between sessions about their response to a given event or how they were feeling at a particular time.
What should men know about the process of therapy?
One of the most common reasons men don’t seek therapy is the notion that there’s something wrong with them if they do. Men should know that just because they’re seeking therapy doesn’t mean they’re mentally ill or damaged in some way. In the same way people work on their bodies through exercise or a craft through practice, therapy can be a way to improve the mental and emotional skills needed to be productive and effective partners, employees, and people in all realms of life.
