Psychotherapy is something that happens between people...you and me. It is a process that I expertly and sensitively guide, but it is something that we experience together. Relationships, past and present, may be a source of pain, frustration, or fear...but they are also the key to unlocking your full potential. Together, we will work to alleviate your most pressing problems as well as to develop a fuller understanding of the deeper, underlying issues that keep you stuck in emotional and relational patterns that limit your capacity to more fully give and receive love.

I’m Kevin - a mental health therapist, dad of two young kids, and a lifelong musician. Those experiences have taught me the value of patience, flexibility, and meeting people where they are. Life can get complicated, stressful, or feel like too much to handle on your own, and sometimes it helps to have a space to sort through it all. I offer a supportive environment where you can talk openly without worrying about being judged. Together we’ll explore what’s working, what’s getting in the way, and what changes might help you move forward. My goal is to help you build a life that feels more manageable, fulfilling, and true to yourself

I have practiced for 40 years in Minnesota, seeing children, adults, couples and families. My practice currently is primarily with adults and couples (and adult teens) who are seeking a therapist who is collaborative, offers guidance and new perspectives, and believes the client is ultimately in charge of change. I value awareness, mindfulness and the process of living out a personal story that is based on strengths and hopefulness. Above all, I believe that if people feel respected and cared for they are capable of growth and moving through even the most difficult times.

Saba believes in the capacity of therapy to help people make changes in their lives that they've struggled with alone - struggles with relationships, habits and repetitions, or work/career difficulties. Often the barriers to change are emotions such as fear, trauma, guilt, shame, feeling of disconnection or self-criticism. By broadening the tolerance and capacity for emotional experiences and reflective thinking, Saba believes that therapy helps the client open up to more options of change and a new, better path for life.

FAQ - Therapist Gender
As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?
There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.

How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?
Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?
Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with therapists of a specific gender. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.

Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?
Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
