Real change comes from understanding why our own impulses and behaviors hold us back from experiencing our true potential and discovering the skills to create the change we seek. I believe in a holistic, person-centered approach to therapy that helps people find the answers that were inside them all along. As a therapist, I am intuitive and compassionate, yet direct, and employ a mix of modalities, including traditional psychotherapy, cognitive therapy and mindfulness techniques.

I work with people who want to show up in the world and be embraced for ALL of who they are. Most of us have things that we keep hidden from others around us - locked away because we are worried that we are broken, weird, fearful of how we will be judged. The problem is, even when we are great at hiding - these things slowly but surely permeate our lives from the inside out. Everyone around you thinks you've got it all together, but on the inside - you know something is off, and you're ready to figure it out and do something different. You're ready to be honest and curious and make a change - to find YOUR courageous truth.

If you're here because your past traumas are creeping up on you, what you show the world doesn't align with what's on the inside, or your anxiety/depression has depleted you---I want to work with you. You might be someone who has a hard time asking for help, so the fact that you're even thinking about getting it is a big step. Sometimes, we just need a therapist to guide us along our path to feeling better. I want you to feel equipped to handle life’s ever-changing ups and downs, and to be able to do it with a sense of purpose, stability, and self-awareness.

I transitioned to the counseling profession at age 50 and I believe my diverse background before becoming a counselor is a benefit for my clients. I draw upon my lived experiences as an athlete, entrepreneur, business owner, wife, and mother, as well as my education and training in counseling. As a person-centered, strength-based therapist, I strive to build a collaborative relationship with clients, help them discover and build on their strengths, and work together to determine a path forward. I believe everyone can heal and change, and that journey most often begins with gentle acceptance and self-compassion.

I am passionate about supporting women as they navigate the perinatal period - pregnancy, birth and postpartum. This is a period of transformation, where we may experience changes emotionally, physically, interpersonally, and with identity. The experience surrounding pregnancy and birth, especially when one or both don’t go as planned, can increase feelings of distress, isolation, and overwhelm - adding challenge to an already intense life transition. We tend to have a lot of judgements about how we "should" feel during this time, and it can be quite upsetting when that doesn't match our experience.

The people I work with often feel disconnected from the deep intimacy they desire with friends, family, and partners. After experiences of harm or trauma, relationships might feel risky, exhausting, or unsatisfying. Together we'll work to understand how you show up in relationships and why, exploring what it could look like to be more fully seen and loved. My aim is to nurture a safe environment where you feel heard, held, and gently challenged as you observe your patterns, reclaim choice, grow self-compassion, and come into greater alignment with your hopes and values. Your autonomy and security are centered every step of the way.

I believe that building an authentic relationship with each client is one of the first steps in moving towards peace, hope, and healing. As we seek to understand ourselves and the patterns of distress, conflict, or confusion we fall into, taking space to explore our strengths and connections is an important step in building a foundation for how we want to move through our world. I value creating a non-judgmental space for each individual, couple, or family to identify their goals and work together to reflect and acquire the necessary tools to begin to feel whole.
