Taking therapy outside into nature allows access to powerful resources to help you address your goals, increase emotional and physical well-being and promote healing and resilience. In this practice my colleagues and I meet outside year-round in the South Minneapolis area, walking along the creek or river, sitting under a favorite pine tree or on a bench by the lake, with the option of telehealth when the weather is unsafe or just too cold. My style is supportive, warm, playful and experiential. We can address attachment difficulties, emotional and behavioral regulation, stress, anxiety, depression, grief and trauma.

Hi there! My name is Abby. I am a non-binary, queer, fun-loving therapist at Interna Mental Health. My specialties lie in providing queer and gender-affirming care and walking alongside those navigating trauma, addiction, depression, and anxiety. Some of my passions include queer joy, social justice, and body liberation. I am a big proponent of embracing one’s inner child, so bringing silliness and curiosity to the therapy room will always be encouraged. I also have an enthusiasm for mental health within sports, and use my experience as an athlete to help those looking to enhance their performance and build mental resilience.

Shame is a skilled liar, and it can falsely convince us that we're better off facing our struggles alone. But it’s everyone’s first time being a human, and no one has it all figured out! I am passionate about working with folks whose voices are all too often silenced: justice-involved, adjusting to life after incarceration, navigating addictive or compulsive behavior patterns, feeling disconnected from their authentic selves, seeking personal meaning in life, or recovering after religious, domestic, or sexual abuse, harm, or trauma. You deserve to be affirmed and supported on the courageous path of healing and self-discovery.

I work mainly from a person-centered, solution-focused and strengths-based approach, frequently pulling in skills from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing & relational techniques. I believe that regardless of what you were born into, or the tragedies or hardships that you have accumulated over time, healing and thriving is possible. That process isn’t easy - it can be messy and it can take a lot of work, but it is possible.
