As an openly polyamorous-queer-gender expansive person, I’ve spent most of my life experiencing microaggressions & unlearning the cisnormative & hetronormative messages that constantly tell us we are defective, broken, or unwanted. They are wrong! We are fabulous, vibrant & deserving, of all the gifts the world has to offer. I became a therapist to share what I’ve learned, bring healing, & advocate for queer/trans youth, young adults & their families while working for social justice & full inclusion into society. Our work will be in a safe, affirming space so we can collaborate to create & implement a road map to your recovery.

Hello! Let’s talk about healing…what are we struggling with that is our responsibility to heal and what might we be carrying that was passed onto us? Giving yourself the grace and compassion to heal is one way to change the dynamics of our interactions with others as well as our relationship with ourselves. Holding space for people to explore the impact of mental health on their own life is the central focus of my work. I am a relational therapist and feel that it is most important to establish a sense of trust and empathy with clients in order for therapeutic growth to occur.

I help people work with what’s on the surface and what’s below, what’s felt inside as well as what’s experienced outside, in life and with others. Clients who seek my care might be looking for support with challenging relationships, life changes, grief, or difficult situations. Clients might also need help with purpose and meaning, navigating anxiety, depression, overwhelm, or just feeling stuck. I provide a compassionate and grounded space to explore what’s happening in life, make sense of things, and move toward something better.

You just can't take it anymore. You are juggling so much, taking care of everything for everyone, and you feel like you're ready to snap! The anxiety and pressure are becoming too much. Your mind won't stop racing, you're having trouble sleeping, and you end up crying in your car from the overwhelm. You wonder what's wrong with you and how others make it look so easy. You feel too guilty to put yourself first, but you know you need some balance in your life. You want to relax but wonder - am I asking too much? I'm here to tell you that you are truly not asking too much.

I primarily work with queer and trans adults, and the parents of queer and trans children (who may be queer and/or trans themselves). As the oppression of queer and trans people ramps up, it is important to me to create a caring, healing space for members of our community seeking support. I have an additional focus on work with chronically ill people and people who maintain caution around COVID. I take a health at any size approach. I work primarily with adults over the age of 21.

I believe that counseling is a collaborative dynamic and as a counselor I like to take time to understand the various parts of my client. As a counselor I come into the room with warmth and empathy to build a safe therapeutic relationship. I hope to earn a client's trust while understanding that it can take time for some people to feel safe and secure in a new space with a new person. I have no tricks and try not to over-analyze but I do offer transparency, truth, and humor when appropriate. My hope is every client feels supported, trusted, and empowered to make the choices that are best for their life outside of therapy.

Taking therapy outside into nature allows access to powerful resources to help you address your goals, increase emotional and physical well-being and promote healing and resilience. In this practice my colleagues and I meet outside year-round in the South Minneapolis area, walking along the creek or river, sitting under a favorite pine tree or on a bench by the lake, with the option of telehealth when the weather is unsafe or just too cold. My style is supportive, warm, playful and experiential. We can address attachment difficulties, emotional and behavioral regulation, stress, anxiety, depression, grief and trauma.

My goal is to provide caring, affirming support to clients as they navigate challenges. These may include work-related issues; stress management; anger management; communication skills; issues with family dynamics; depression; anxiety; post-traumatic stress; and other concerns.
My dog, Harper, comes to work with me most days. Harper is a very calm dog whose primary skills include snuggling under blankets and snoring. She often enjoys sleeping next to a client on the office sofa. If you prefer not to be close with a dog while in the office, there are chairs in the office on which she is not allowed.

The clients I work with come from different backgrounds and experiences, each with their own unique challenges and hopes for therapy. Some are navigating relationship struggles, others are processing anxiety, self-doubt, or the impact of past experiences. Whether they seek more fulfilling connections, emotional clarity, or a deeper sense of self-trust, they’re looking for a space where their personal history, culture, and the larger systems they navigate are understood and explored.
