I am EMDR trained and utilize Internal Family Systems (IFS), trauma-informed, and relationship-oriented approaches.
My areas of clinical expertise are trauma with a special focus on religious trauma, queer identity, and anxiety and depression. I utilize parts work, which is the idea that we are all made up of different parts of ourselves. During our sessions, I prioritize curiosity around who these parts are and what makes them feel safe.

I have done extensive training in EMDR, self compassion, mindfulness, and DBT.
We are all on a journey that often presents itself in different ways for different people; each person’s life is unique. I love connecting with and seeing my clients reach their goals, sometimes that means being in a space of validation and collaboration, sometimes that means I hold you accountable for doing the work required to change to meet your goals. Regardless, I will be there for you. It doesn’t matter if it is anxiety, depression, addiction or trauma that is getting in the way, I will help you find a way to a better place.

I am an EMDRIA-trained EMDR therapist.
Even the most well-adjusted of us encounter situations or experiences that require professional support. Sometimes the natural aging process or a personal crisis brings us to a place of seeking guidance. I consider it my unique privilege and honor to be part of my client's journey on their path to encountering their whole self. My therapeutic approach is founded in an existential understanding of the human condition.

Finding the right therapist can be overwhelming. Maybe you want to change but don't know where to begin. Perhaps you are unhappy with your relationships. Maybe you feel your past interferes in your life but have felt too scared to "go there." Maybe depression and anxiety are a part of your daily life. I know where to start. My first step is to create a safe place where you can learn to do things differently, where you can flourish instead of just surviving.

I combine EMDR with CBT, DBT, IFS and holistic methods to improve your relationship with yourself, others, and the world.
I understand delving into one's psyche can be daunting, revealing gaps between who we are and who we strive to be. Yet, I believe even small sparks of motivation can ignite profound transformations. Witnessing clients embrace this power inspires me deeply.

I frequently utilize EMDR, talk therapy, CBT, resilience-building modalities, mindfulness-based practices, and the creative arts.
Sometimes life’s challenges can feel overwhelming, making it seem as if we have little control over the path our lives are taking. Trauma, depression, anxiety, grief, low self-esteem, and other life challenges can make ordinary life difficult to navigate. I provide a supportive, non-judgmental environment that allows my clients to gain mastery over their situation rather than allowing their circumstances to run their lives. My therapeutic approach is culturally sensitive, collaborative, unique to each client, and focuses on client strengths.

I am a trauma-informed therapist trained in EMDR therapy, and yes we can do this via telehealth!
Life can be messy sometimes. Therapy should feel safe, challenging, and sometimes even fun with a dose of good humor. I create a warm, compassionate space for clients to look at their patterns and painful memories while also celebrating their joyful moments. I offer a client-centered, systemic approach, and work well with high functioning anxiety, people with perfectionistic patterns and those who live or desire to live counter-culturally. I draw from a rich background in theater and the arts as well as a prior career as a bodyworker practicing massage and craniosacral therapies. I have a passion for somatic integration in our work.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
