I am semi-retired, currently taking a few clients short-term on teletherapy, that is up to 10 sessions. Sessions are self-pay. For clients dealing with an acute situation or a past recent trauma, this can work very well. In our initial conversation, we will discuss whether short-term therapy would be appropriate for you. I use primarily EMDR and trauma informed therapy. In addition, I apply a strength-based model rooted in attachment theory and lessons learned from mindfulness, CBT and ACT. These are all therapies designed to empower the individual to cope with symptoms without being defined by them.

I approach my work with individual clients from a person centered, strengths-based perspective, incorporating CBT, DBT, MI, ACT, and Trauma informed approaches.
There is power in uncovering and looking more closely at what may be causing stress or strain in our current life. Working through these concerns with another can increase personal growth and foster well-being and resilience.

I have worked with adults of all genders to overcome a wide range of issues using a combination of compassion-focused, cognitive behavioral and attachment-based therapy.
We all experience times when life becomes overwhelming, leaving us feeling vulnerable and off-centered, sometimes leading to profound depression, grief, anxiety or the use of unhealthy coping strategies. Stressors include major life transitions, relational challenges (conflict, separation/divorce, domestic abuse), parenting or/caregiving responsibilities, health difficulties, social oppression/discrimination, and trauma as a child or adult. No matter how strong you may be, you don't have to go it alone. Everyone struggles from time to time, and many benefit from seeking help from an experienced, highly trained psychotherapist.

I believe everyone has a story or many stories that they believe about themselves. Some of these stories may or may not serve people in their lives -but all have a powerful effect on how we walk in the world. Using integrative, cognitive-behavioral, and narrative therapy, I help clients redefine their beliefs about themselves, or how other people or situations affect their lives. I guide clients to recreate the stories that can help them initiate change, and reinforce the stories that already give them strength and clarity.

People come to therapy for many reasons. In the first few sessions, I want to get to know you--what you are struggling with, your hopes and fears for the future, what seems to be getting in the way, what strengths and assets you bring. Together, we arrive at a plan, identifying your goals, sources of distress, and how best to work toward symptom relief and greater satisfaction with life and relationships. My approach integrates several treatment modalities, including psychoanalytic/psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, mindfulness-based therapies, life-span developmental approaches, attachment theory, family and couples therapy.
