I am trained in Narrative Therapy, and have certificates in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy and Gottman Systems Family Therapy.
I see life as a mosaic of our personal and shared experiences, and we all do the best we can with what we know at the time. But sometimes, anxiety, depression or the simple challenges of daily life can hold people back from living the fullest, best story of their life. My goal as a therapist is to explore and bring to light a person’s inner strengths, so they can overcome their personal obstacles and enjoy better, more productive lives and relationships. Everyone, regardless of life’s challenges, deserves the best life they can imagine, and my goal is to walk with them and help them along this journey.

If you are feeling overwhelmed, stressed, or unsure of your next steps, therapy can offer a grounded and supportive space to regroup. Many people start therapy feeling unheard or misunderstood, and my goal is to create a place where you can talk openly, feel respected, and sort through what has been weighing on you. Whether you are navigating anxiety, life transitions, relationship stress, or uncertainty about your path, you do not have to figure it out alone.

I also specialize in PTSD, Chronic pain, Veterans, and behavior modification for all ages.
I focus on improving life balance. Learning when to pause and enjoy the moment, rather than what you did or didn’t do, or where you need to be or what you need to do next. People tend to let their past, patterns, or habits determine their present and future. I help you find a way to roll with the waves of life and gain resiliency, while riding life’s unpredictable storms. There is no way of being fully prepared for the unexpected, but there are skills and tools for managing the storms. I look to help people find a new way to move forward in life rather than trying to anchor down in the storm. Tides will change and waters can calm.

I incorporate elements of humanistic, cognitive- behavioral, and mindfulness practices into my approach.
My ideal client is someone that has an idea of their goals and what they would like to pursue in therapy, but needs the extra insight and encouragement to clarify those goals or to take the first steps in accomplishing them. They may be struggling with mood issues, have trouble controlling their thoughts, or be dealing with difficult or contentious relationships. They are in need of someone to listen to them, to provide empathy and validation, and then to help guide them along the path they have chosen to make the changes they wish to see in their life.

Behavioral Issues Therapists

What happens in therapy for behavioral issues?

No matter the type of therapy, individuals form an alliance with the therapist; that connection is often therapeutic in itself, plus it becomes an instrument of change. Individuals learn to identify situations that are especially troublesome for them and acquire new patterns of thinking and behaving. In therapy for ADHD, one of the most common behavior issues for children, individuals learn how to improve frustration tolerance, control impulsivity, manage attentional focus, and gain skills of self-organisation.

What therapy types help with behavioral issues?

Many types of therapy have been found effective, each targeting one or more areas of dysfunction. Perhaps best-known and most widely tested is cognitive and behavioral therapy (CBT), in which individuals learn new behavioral strategies and curb reactivity to frustrating or distressing situations that trigger disruptive behaviour. Anger, anxiety, mood disorders, impulse control problems are commonly addressed in CBT. Family therapy or parent management training is often helpful to reduce parent-child conflict and behavioral difficulties at home.

How long does therapy last for behavioral issues?

Among popular approaches to treating behavioral concerns, CBT is considered a short-term therapy intended to be administered in 15 to 20 weekly sessions. Parent training in behavior management, often used when the underlying cause of behavior issues is ADHD in children under 12, usually occurs in weekly sessions for 8 to 16 weeks. When behavioral issues stem from persistent aggression or defiance, therapy may last for months, and usually targets both children and their parents.

How effective is therapy for behavior issues?

Studies show that therapy for behavior issues in children is highly effective and may prevent the development of antisocial behavior later in life. Family intervention—parent management training or family therapy, both of which involve parents and children together—is considered most effective, notably for children under age 12 who persistently engage in aggressive, defiant, rule-breaking or other disruptive behavior. Whether provided alone or in combination with medication, CBT is highly effective in helping people regulate their emotions, and for people with ADHD, it addresses impulsiveness, hyperactivity and attentional focus.
