I believe that when we explore our identity and life experiences from a place that feels safe and compassionate, we discover our unique strengths to overcome obstacles and take action in the direction that feels most aligned with our deepest values. I specialize in multicultural issues and trauma-informed care with my clients. I have extensive experience helping clients work through depression,
anxiety
, post-traumatic stress disorder, relational problems, LGBTQ+ and gender specific issues, as well as culturally specific concerns.

I am currently accepting new clients! Realizing that help is needed and reaching out can be difficult. I hope to make this process easier. As a primary therapist at CBT Minneapolis-St Paul, I focus on teaching good thinking habits and using powerful cognitive behavioral tools to help adolescents and adults on issues like depression,
anxiety
, trauma, and grief/loss. I also enjoy working with people that are dealing with life transitions, have relationship concerns, LGBTQ issues, parents who are struggling with their children, and those dealing with postpartum mood issues.

Are relationships and intimacy with others overwhelming at times in part out of fear of “rejection” and/or “abandonment”? Is the negative core belief “I'm not good enough” a theme that frequently shows up in your life & is a source of pain? Are you seeking to understand and cultivate a more nurturing relationship with your body, body image, and relationship with food? Are you wanting to explore the impact of your adoption experience including the trauma of separation & loss inherent in adoption? Does self doubt impair decision-making?

In a safe, supportive, compassionate space, I work with individuals experiencing depression,
anxiety
, loss, death, divorce, relationship concerns, life transitions and changes, questions about identity, as well as anyone struggling with everyday life.
Pathway to peace. Hope and change. Possibility and potential. These are just a few of the words I think of when describing therapy. As a seasoned professional I've guided countless people out of confusion and despair and back into a place of strength and empowerment. My ultimate goal with everyone is to increase their understanding of themselves. I do this by teaching you how to notice information that is currently being missed. Or you notice it, but don't know what do to about it. I place an emphasis on the “Now what?” phase of therapy that shifts the focus from an intellectual understanding to the application of the material.

I feel particularly capable working with depression,
anxiety
, grief, self-esteem and relational concerns.
Therapy involves the courage to look inward with curiosity and self-compassion. Our work together will process difficult emotions, address complex challenges in life, and support your overall wellness journey. Trusting your own judgment and honoring your wants and needs are foundational to personal well-being, and starting therapy is a brave step on that path.

I enjoy working with both individuals and couples where stress, co-dependency,
anxiety
, depression, body image or relationship/communication issues have caused personal discord.
My greatest joy is to help people find their inner voice and personal power. Trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy, I work with both individuals and couples. Looking at attachment patterns that are unconsciously learned in childhood, we will see where and how those patterns play out in your life and how they hold you in unhealthy beliefs. Together, we will unravel the thought processes that thrive in judgment, scarcity, blame, and fear. I truly believe the healing process toward change occurs once YOU gain insight into yourself.

I work with people who are struggling with depression,
anxiety
, relationship issues, significant life changes, or feeling that they just aren't where they want to be in their lives.
Have you been considering therapy, but the idea of being stuck in an office, session after session, is just a bit too much? Over the years, I've found that an office setting isn't always the most comfortable environment for sharing personal struggles or issues. However... imagine going for a walk. Not only is it good for your health, but it can make sharing whatever is on your mind, far more comfortable! We can always remain in the office (and online therapy is an option too!), but if you like the idea of having the option to get outside for a walk now and again, then I invite you to come take a walk with me...

Sometimes life’s challenges can feel overwhelming, making it seem as if we have little control over the path our lives are taking. Trauma, depression,
anxiety
, grief, low self-esteem, and other life challenges can make ordinary life difficult to navigate. I provide a supportive, non-judgmental environment that allows my clients to gain mastery over their situation rather than allowing their circumstances to run their lives. My therapeutic approach is culturally sensitive, collaborative, unique to each client, and focuses on client strengths.

Walk Talk Therapy is just like it sounds-we are outdoors walking side by side during therapy instead of sitting inside an office. Walk Talk Therapy is a more relaxed environment than the counseling office. Walking while sharing your struggles and life situations can also be meditative. Research has consistently shown that exercise can significantly impact
anxiety
and stress while improving overall mood. I work with teens, adults, couples and families. If you're feeling stuck and disconnected from others, you have trouble sitting still or you want a new perspective, I welcome your email or phone call.

When
anxiety
takes a hold on your life, it can help to know you’re not alone.
Getting tangled up with
anxiety
can feel like playing tug-of-war. Worrying, ruminating, and "what if" thoughts take up can take up so much of your time, making it hard to enjoy the things you love. Maybe you've spent your days trying to fix the way you feel through yoga, meditating, exercising, and even traditional talk therapy. But nothing gives you much relief. You are still stuck and wondering how to get out. If you struggle with
anxiety
,
panic
, intrusive thoughts, or OCD…. you are not alone. You are not crazy. You can be back to your old self again. Therapy can help you to be present in your every day life.

I work with clients of all ages and with symptoms related, but not limited to trauma,
anxiety
, depression, and sexuality.
I believe that each individual frames their life from their experiences. Such experiences can cause distress, sometimes making life unbearable. I invite clients in the direction of the unconscious mental process to create healing and promote change. With wholeheartedness and non-judgemental support, I offer a deep journey in search of keys to unveil the answers that lie within. I help clients to find insight, and cope with the underlying causes of emotional and psychological symptoms. I suppose that it is through telling one's unique story, that one can re-write it.

I specialize in high sensitivity, relationship challenges,
anxiety
, and sexuality.
Welcome! Being human is a beautiful and vulnerable experience that doesn't always have directions or clear answers. It is hard to be faced with so many unknowns regarding health, finances, politics, relationships, and the world at large. If you are a highly sensitive person, you may feel raw to everything around you including sounds, physical touch, or even other peoples' emotions. Or perhaps you would like a more fulfilling sex life and/or would like to feel more connected in your relationship(s).

Anxiety Therapists
What are the most common treatments for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.
How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.
How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
