I believe that therapy is not an easy process to begin or to say with over time. I have been a therapist for over 20 years and before that worked for 12 years as an alcohol and drug counselor. I work from a cognitive behavioral therapy perspective and believe that people come to therapy because they have tried every solution they know to make there life better. I believe therapy works best in an atmosphere of respect and trust, that people come to therapy because they want to make there life better in some way.

Anger is a natural emotion that is unavoidable, so is sadness, and worry.
Do you ever find yourself irritated at little things, or the people close to you? Do you find yourself constantly worried, or discouraged by everyday life? Therapy can be a scary thing to consider, but my goal is to help you be the best version of yourself with a little support and encouragement! I use cognitive behavioral strategies mixed with brain & body education so my patients have a better understanding of how and why they may react to things in life that seem automatic and how they can take charge and re-direct these unhelpful reactions to feel more successful in life.

My areas of interest include depression, anxiety, anger, and ecological grief.
In a demanding world, you can find resilience within yourself. As a therapist, my goal is to see you develop ways to persevere and grow—ways that speak to your values and your needs.

I work with adults and adolescents, individuals, couples, and families, helping them overcome anxiety, depression, chemical dependency and other addictions, PTSD and trauma (physical and sexual abuse, rape and domestic violence), family and relationship issues, including adoption, divorce, infidelity, anger, parenting, and issues related to the legal system.
My therapy style is engaged and proactive. Clients repeatedly tell me they feel safe and accepted in therapy to explore their issues, whatever they happen to be. I ask questions and make frequent observations to help clients (1) increase self-awareness and become more comfortable with themselves and their feelings, (2) to make better choices, (3) toward greater satisfaction in their lives and relationships. My unique history helps me understand and relate to the many struggles clients face, without judgment. Please visit therapyredeemed.wordpress.com/about/ for more info & resources! Have you ever wondered about your adoption story? Has there ever been doubt, fear, anger, pain or confusion when it comes up? What’s it been like for you to process your personal experience of birth family, loss, grief, race, identity, or even those seemingly benign curiosities about your narrative that come up from time to time? For parents, of course you want to help your children as they embark on that path. This can often feel uncertain or overwhelming, with so many subtle nuances that feel way too complicated to handle without appropriate support.

I help clients overcome fear, anger, and anxiety so you can go from surviving to thriving! I do this by helping my clients explore both the conscious and unconscious mind to understand what is keeping them addicted, stuck, angry, and fearful.
As your therapist, I see myself as a guide and my approach is very much strength-based and person-centered - aligned with Carl Rogers, who believed that “every person is unique and, therefore, everyone’s view of their own world, and their ability to manage it, should be trusted”. I lead with curiosity and see you, the client as expert of your life and experience. My approach is designed to validate your experience and help you reveal your inner strength and gain awareness so that you can finally heal and recover from traumas that are keeping you stuck. These interventions are the catalyst to growth and hold transformative power.

Specialty areas include infidelity, anger/aggression, domestic violence, and estranged parents.
I like working with people who struggle to maintain healthy relationships. I particularly enjoy working with men, including active or retired military and law enforcement, as they so often need help learning how to connect authentically with others. My ideal client seeks to better understand and communicate their emotional needs instead of shutting down, blowing up, or self-sabotaging. If you feel ashamed about how you've shown up in relationships, know that I'll never judge you. Instead, I'll challenge you to understand yourself, forgive yourself, and commit to real and meaningful change.

I help people with relationship problems, stress management, depression, anxiety, trauma, grief and loss, anger problems, addictive and compulsive behaviors, procrastination and underachievement, and issues of identity, meaning and purpose.
I see individuals and couples. One of my strengths as a therapist is working respectfully with men who would rather not be in therapy. I understand why many men are skeptical about therapy, or uncomfortable talking about feelings, and I do not get judgmental or impatient about this. Men who are concerned that in couple therapy they might be ganged up on and blamed will find that I don't this, to them or their partner. And of course, I also enjoy working with women, and with men who are comfortable with therapy!

Anger Management Therapists
How long does therapy take for anger management?
Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.
How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?
Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.
Is there medication for anger management?
Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.
What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
