Since getting my degree in psychology I have spent much time working with people who have issues of anger management and who live with its consequences.
More information at; davidadubois.com I believe that therapy is not an easy process to begin or to say with over time. I have been a therapist for over 20 years and before that worked for 12 years as an alcohol and drug counselor. I work from a cognitive behavioral therapy perspective and believe that people come to therapy because they have tried every solution they know to make there life better. I believe therapy works best in an atmosphere of respect and trust, that people come to therapy because they want to make there life better in some way.

Sometimes when we are feeling down we mask our pain with a smile. We do this because it is easier to pretend everything is okay, not realizing it’s okay to not be okay. Understanding that, I create a safe space by establishing boundaries, offering hope, and skilled guidance to explore these issues. My goal is to provide knowledgeable, individualized, compassionate care in a supportive, client-centered therapeutic environment; while providing knowledge and resources to empower clients to live their best life! I’m Dr. Laura Petracek, a Clinical Psychologist and author with over 30 years of experience in the field of psychotherapy.

Clients come to see me for many issues: anger , depression, anxiety, grief-loss, low self-esteem, couple or marriage trouble, codependency, addictions, and weight management, to name a few.
My name is Michael Branchaud and I am a Masters level Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, LPCC. I have been a practicing mental health professional for the past 26 years of which the last 10 years have been as a licensed psychotherapist. My therapy model is based on the Biblical concept of guarding our minds or better said, controlling our thoughts to better regulate our emotions and behaviors. This is done by understanding the relationship between our thoughts and emotions and their impact on our behaviors. I believe a person cannot change what he or she does not understand.

Do you ever find yourself irritated at little things, or the people close to you? Do you find yourself constantly worried, or discouraged by everyday life? Therapy can be a scary thing to consider, but my goal is to help you be the best version of yourself with a little support and encouragement! I use cognitive behavioral strategies mixed with brain & body education so my patients have a better understanding of how and why they may react to things in life that seem automatic and how they can take charge and re-direct these unhelpful reactions to feel more successful in life.

Clients see me for a magnitude of concerns, such as anxiety disorders, depression, anger management , issues of identity, and self-esteem. I particularly enjoy working with young adults and early-career professionals because these two age groups experience many life transitions that therapy can help them navigate. As a psychotherapist, my goal is to create a safe and comfortable space for you to process, explore, and gain insight into many of your experiences. Whether or not this is your first experience in therapy, I will take the time to get to know you, and our work together will start from where you currently are.

I imagine many things in your life are going well, but there are a certain things you think, feel, or do that you just wish you didn't think, feel or do. Maybe you get anxious or angry when you feel criticized. Maybe you shut down and lose motivation when faced with a difficult task. Or maybe it's something else and it's getting in the way of you being yourself, and feeling comfortable at home, at school, or at work. You've tried lots of ways to manage your these thoughts or feelings, but they don't seem to calm down. It's like something takes over, filling you with anxiety, sadness, fear, anger or something else.

I help clients overcome fear, anger , and anxiety so you can go from surviving to thriving! I do this by helping my clients explore both the conscious and unconscious mind to understand what is keeping them addicted, stuck, angry, and fearful.
As your therapist, I see myself as a guide and my approach is very much strength-based and person-centered - aligned with Carl Rogers, who believed that “every person is unique and, therefore, everyone’s view of their own world, and their ability to manage it, should be trusted”. I lead with curiosity and see you, the client as expert of your life and experience. My approach is designed to validate your experience and help you reveal your inner strength and gain awareness so that you can finally heal and recover from traumas that are keeping you stuck. These interventions are the catalyst to growth and hold transformative power.

Please visit therapyredeemed.wordpress.com/about/ for more info & resources! Have you ever wondered about your adoption story? Has there ever been doubt, fear, anger , pain or confusion when it comes up? What’s it been like for you to process your personal experience of birth family, loss, grief, race, identity, or even those seemingly benign curiosities about your narrative that come up from time to time? For parents, of course you want to help your children as they embark on that path. This can often feel uncertain or overwhelming, with so many subtle nuances that feel way too complicated to handle without appropriate support.

I serve adults, families, and children (ages 4-18) with a variety of challenges. I help men and women handle breakups or relationship difficulties, cope with being single, navigate dating, create healthy relationships, manage anger / frustration, deal with depression, explore adoptee issues, and adapt to change or loss. I serve families with children who are pushing boundaries, fighting with or blaming others, worrying excessively, yelling/talking back, lacking appropriate social skills or have poor self-esteem. I also work with adoptive families who are concerned about their adopted child's "problem" behaviors, difficulties adjusting, or challenges in connecting with others.

Anger Management Therapists

How long does therapy take for anger management?

Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?

Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?

Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
