Have you made significant changes in your life but find yourself stuck in old patterns? Are you in recovery from drugs or alcohol or disordered eating, but still find yourself struggling in other ways? My Name is Kelle Kirk and I help folks in recovery STAY in recovery. Many of us have found out that cutting out the drinking or drugging or changing our relationship to food or our bodies didn't "fix" everything; in some ways, maybe we found things to be more intense or complicated in this new landscape. You have come so far and made such progress, let's work on the being human and truly do something different.

Life hands us many experiences. Difficult thoughts, feelings or circumstances. Therapy gets to be a space where you are supported with whatever it is. Addressing stressors, finding new ways to cope or heal from past experiences. You may be focused on self-growth, personal identity, life transitions or building better relationships or intimacy. Therapy gets to be a place where you get to take a moment for those things. A therapeutic space can also be a space for personal wellness, a piece of one’s self care practice or a private space to unload.

Starting therapy can feel like a big step. If you're here, you've already taken a courageous step in the right direction. I understand that clicking a link and following through on a promise to yourself can feel daunting. If that’s where you are right now, I want to say: congratulations. You’re not alone. In our work together, I bring years of experience supporting individuals of all ages as they navigate life’s challenges, including depression, anxiety, addiction, ADHD, Autism, trauma, technology-related stress, medical concerns, and abuse.

I have expertise with adolescents, adults, families, perinatal mood disorders, and eating disorders.
It is exhausting living a life where you don't recognize yourself anymore. It feels like walking around with the weight of the world on your shoulders. You may hope this goes away by itself. You may worry that others won't understand. You may feel like you are weak if you ask for help. Life transitions impact your sense of self, relationships, family, and career. I want to help you find your inner strength to take control of who you are and how you want to live your life.

Hello and welcome! My name is Sam (they/them), and I am so happy you're here. As a queer and non-binary identified provider, I honor how painstakingly difficult it is to exist under oppressive systems, let alone thrive. It can be isolating and scary to navigate this world alone, and I do not think you should have to. Drawing on humanistic and person-centered models of care, I aim to create a non-judgmental and empathetic space where you can bravely define what being your best self means to you. As an artist, I understand creativity's healing, grounding nature and provide art supplies for client use in sessions.

I am a trauma-informed bodyworker and Somatic Experiencing Practitioner offering a body-centered approach for the healing of trauma and chronic pain. Traditional therapy approaches often have difficulty addressing the bodily effects of trauma, anxiety and depression. Habits and patterns that get "stuck" in the body can keep these types of issues from resolving, even after many years of successful therapy. As an adjunct to traditional therapy, my body-centered approach to Somatic Experiencing provides a unique opportunity to support the physical integration of mental and emotional change that help people recovering from trauma to truly FEEL better.

Psychotherapy is something that happens between people...you and me. It is a process that I expertly and sensitively guide, but it is something that we experience together. Relationships, past and present, may be a source of pain, frustration, or fear...but they are also the key to unlocking your full potential. Together, we will work to alleviate your most pressing problems as well as to develop a fuller understanding of the deeper, underlying issues that keep you stuck in emotional and relational patterns that limit your capacity to more fully give and receive love.

I am passionate about healing and transformation, and engaging the inherent wisdom of the human heart, psyche, and spirit. Therapy can support the healing of past wounds and traumas while also helping us navigate present challenges with greater clarity, compassion, and intention. As we release limiting beliefs and unresolved hurts, we are better able to live from our authentic inner truth—benefiting ourselves as well as the relationships and communities we are part of. Committed to equity, I am interested in how our personal healing processes contribute to our collective wellness. As we heal, our relationships and communities heal.

It's hard to be a human, and when mental health is struggling it can feel impossible! I find that when we are struggling we can either feel controlled by emotions, or have trouble connecting with them. Sometimes it's hard to trust your yourself; You might not know how to move through life with everything going on. Having a safe place where you can be curious and let your emotions come out is important.

I work primarily w/ adolescents/young adults who struggle with "launching" into the adult world of school & work, with adults who have a hard time managing pain & chronic health problems, with people who have struggles related to sexual health, and with people experiencing grief & loss.
I believe in focusing on behaviors. We are creatures whose habits arise/evolve for many reasons. People often come to therapy to work on changing behaviors that aren't working. Since behaviors often contain deep meaning, part of therapy involves exploring beliefs/thoughts around habits that aren't working.

I work with adults at all ages navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, sexuality, gender identity, obsessions and relationship struggles.
I believe relationships are at the heart of our lives. They can bring deep joy, but also confusion, distance, or pain. If you're feeling disconnected from yourself, a partner, family member, or friend, I offer a space where you can feel understood without judgment. Together, we’ll explore what matters most to you, at your pace. My style is warm, curious, and grounded in the belief that healing happens through genuine connection within the therapeutic relationship and paying close attention to the vocabulary of your body: Feelings! When people want additional help doing this, I also utilize in-depth somatic sessions.

FAQ - About Adult Counseling
Why should adults see a therapist?
Adults may benefit from therapy for a wide range of reasons—whether it’s managing symptoms of a diagnosed mental health condition like anxiety or depression, navigating life transitions, coping with grief or trauma, or simply seeking support during a challenging life period. Many adults find that therapy helps them build healthier coping skills and better process their emotions, which may lead to better relationships and reduced stress. It’s important to note that, unlike psychiatrists or primary care physicians, therapists do not prescribe psychiatric medication. However, they will often work alongside prescribing clinicians to ensure coordinated care and can provide behavioral therapy as an important addition to psychiatric medication. Mental health concerns can look different in adulthood than in childhood or adolescence, so finding a therapist with expertise working with adult clients is important. Conditions like major depressive disorder (MDD), generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), bipolar disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for instance, may present or resurface differently in adulthood than in childhood or adolescence. Adult-specific stressors, such as job strain, caregiving responsibilities, relationship challenges, financial stress, or identity transitions, can also influence the onset and type of symptoms an individual experiences. Adult-focused therapists, therefore, are trained to understand these complexities and tailor care accordingly.

How do I know if a therapist is the right fit for me?
When seeking care, it’s important to understand a therapist’s treatment specialties and their overall approach to treatment . Some therapists focus on common adult conditions like anxiety or depression, while others specialize in areas such as trauma, substance use disorders, or obsessive-compulsive disorder. It’s also important to consider a therapist’s training when seeking care. Therapists hold various licenses depending on their training and state requirements. Common therapy credentials include Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSWs), Licensed Mental Health Counselors (LMHCs), Licensed Professional Counselors (LPCs), and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFTs). Psychologists (PhD or PsyD) receive additional doctoral-level training and may focus on assessments or more specialized therapeutic approaches. All of these professionals can provide talk therapy but do not prescribe medication. When searching for a therapist, consider their credentials and training background to ensure a good fit.

How do I find a therapist who sees adults?
Psychology Today’s online directory allows you to search specifically for therapists who work with adults. Each provider profile includes key information such as clinical specialties, therapeutic approaches, licensure, accepted insurance plans, languages spoken, and session fees. Reviewing these details can help you determine whether a particular provider aligns with your needs and can indicate whether they are a good match for adult clients.
