Do you consider yourself a people pleaser? Is it hard to prioritize yourself without feeling guilty? Do you struggle to say no or tell people how you really feel? Are you trying to heal from emotional wounds from a loved one? Many of my clients say they feel stuck in a difficult
relationship
with their parent,
spouse
, or other loved one. They feel the stress, frustration, and resentment building but they "don't like confrontation" so they become exhausted and have little hope that things can change. They suffer from low self-esteem, overwhelm, and indecisiveness.

I seek to help people find hope and light in dark times. I love working within youth, young adults, and families to help mend concerns and disconnects within important relationships because relationships are a foundation of life. In addition to relationships I love working one-on-one to help clients find new ways to heal and cope with whatever their life situations may be: mental illness, life changes, grief, loss, transitions, and any other obstacle that is ever present in life today. Each person has their own story and I am humbled to help clients navigate theirs.

I believe that the ideal client is an individual who is motivated towards working towards improving their mood, situation, or life in the goals they choose. As a marriage and family therapist, I believe I'm best suited for working with
couples
and families. However, a significant amount of my nearly fourteen years of clinical experience has been working children and adolescents. I also enjoy working with those who are oppositional, anxious, depressed, have experienced trauma, are seeking parenting skills, or are looking for emotional management and coping strategies.

Additionally, I love sitting with
couples
and families who are working to clear resentments, create harmony, and reinvigorate intimacy.
My heart's desire is for everyone to connect with their innate love, joy, and peace. I believe love and joy are always present within us, they are just often hidden under layers of pain and misunderstanding. Together, we can peel back the layers and bring back your vitality. I love to listen and ask questions, which helps clients get clear on who they are, what they want, and where they are going! You are safe to share your complete (sometimes tangled) truth with me. Tears, laughter, growls, and silence are welcome.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
