Lino Lakes, MN 55014
I use a variety of techniques in therapy; mindfulness, CBT, have been trained in EMDR, Thought Field Therapy, Brainspotting, IADC (for prolonged grief), coping strategies, progressive relaxation, visualization, sensory integration, and mind-body work to treat the whole person.
I like to take a wholistic approach to working with clients. My unique background of being a Marriage and Family therapist, as well as an Occupational Therapist provides me two different lens through which to approach the needs of my clients. Assisting clients in moving toward their goals to reach their full potential, in whatever way is meaningful to them. We look at preverbal & developmental trauma, specific/phobia traumas, medical traumas, family of origin, domestic abuse, relationships, grief/prolonged grief and loss, and the impact of stress, i.e. anxiety, depression, etc. that prevent a person from being "their best self."

We are all trying to live a life that has meaning and worth. When our best efforts don't work, we may become "stuck". This is where a counselor can help you interpret and re-frame the issues to chart a path to help get "UNstuck". My goal in therapy is to create a safe place to talk about the issues and work towards a solution. Maya Angelou says it best: "You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them. If you cannot make a change, change the way you have been thinking. You might find a new solution."

To support this deep psychological work, I also integrate body-based trauma therapies like EMDR and Brainspotting when appropriate.
To the world, you have it all figured out. Internally, you’re exhausted—trapped in the same painful patterns you've spent so much time trying to think your way out of. Sometimes you don't even feel like you know who you are. My practice is designed for people who have spent years trying to understand themselves and change old patterns, but still feel stuck. Together, we will bridge the gap between mind and body, moving beyond understanding your patterns to creating new experiences of connection, self-trust, and healing.

I am also trained in Brainspotting which can be especially powerful for clients with a history of trauma.
I see clients of any age, however, I focus largely on play therapy with children and their families as it is a growing passion of mine. Drawing on my role as a mother and from my years of experience working with children, I understand the importance of coming alongside children and their caregivers to provide a nurturing and healing environment.

Pulling from a mix of theories, including Feminist Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Brainspotting, and systemic/relational approaches, we will work together to find the mix that best supports your personal growth and healing.
Living in this world can be hard, and we all need some help making sense of it from time to time. As a therapist, I hold a space full of humility, humor, and deep, genuine care as you explore your relationship with yourself and with those around you. Using a trauma-informed lens, I will walk beside you as you uncover insight, understanding, and resources that you have had all along. I have a passion for helping clients explore ways that we are impacted by oppressive systems and am LGBTQ+, nonmonogamy, and kink affirming. Above all, I will prioritize being authentic and fully present with you as our conversations unfold.

I integrate relational, attachment-focused work with somatic approaches like Brainspotting, to release long-held tension and emotional patterns.
You know you shouldn't talk down to yourself, but the harsh inner voice doesn't quit. It replays conversations at 2am, questions everything you said, and lands on the same conclusion: not good enough. You work hard to make everyone else happy. You'll rest after the next deadline, but there's always more. You push through, ignoring your body's signals, tension in your shoulders, tight breath, exhaustion that sleep doesn't fix. When someone close to you says something small, it lands hard. You either snap and spiral with regret or go quiet and cold, then carry the shame of both. What happened to your needs, your joy?

Brainspotting Therapists
How does brainspotting work?
Brainspotting works by using eye positioning to identify and process traumatic memories so that a client is better able to move forward and live with less fear. The theory behind brainspotting is that by identifying where a person looks when thinking of traumatic memories, a therapist will be able to guide them to focus on that spot and work with the client to get them out of the “fight, flight, freeze” response associated with the traumatic memory.

Is brainspotting an evidence-based therapy?
Brainspotting is a theory-based alternative therapy. It is one of the newest forms of treatment, so very little research has been completed that examines the mechanism by which it works. The theory behind brainspotting is that eye position can be linked to areas of the brain that store and process memory.

How effective is brainspotting?
Because it is such a new treatment, the effectiveness of brainspotting cannot be quantified. Some people have found it to be effective on its own, or in conjunction with other types of therapy. It is considered an alternative therapy, and it is popular with people for whom more traditional therapies have proven ineffective.

How long does brainspotting take to work?
A typical brainspotting session will last between 60 to 90 minutes. There is no required number of sessions needed to complete brainspotting therapy, but in many cases it is delivered over the course of about six sessions. Clients are encouraged to rate their level of distress prior to a session and again following a session, and to track progress.
