I've built a small, boutique practice that gives each client the time and access they need to a psychologist. You won't be one of 35 clients seen in a week, which is typical in most practices. Instead you will have a dedicated, compassionate psychologist provide you evidence-based psychological therapy, coaching, or consultation. This practice is ideal for busy professionals, executives, attorneys, tech leaders, and high schoolers and college students with complex issues. I cap my panel to 21 clients a week so each client gets what they need and deserve. I currently can practice telepsychology across the country in 40 states.

Seeking help from a therapist can be a difficult decision. Successful therapy is highly based on the client-therapist relationship as well as openness to change. I have a warm eclectic style that creates a trusting therapeutic environment. I work with adults and couples to address unhealthy patterns that keep them stuck in emotional distress and unfulfilling relationships. I treat a variety of issues including trauma, abuse, depression, anxiety, and relationship issues.

I am a firm believer of the client being behind the wheel on their therapeutic journey while I am there, passenger side, as the navigator providing guidance. I meet my patients where they are at and build off of their strengths to increase their self-esteem, knowledge, and well-being. The client-counselor relationship is very important to me, and I do my best to create a space where guards can be let down and vulnerability is welcomed through a person-centered approach.

Knowing people come into the therapeutic space at their most vulnerable time, I strive to create a down-to-earth, welcoming presence for clients to explore their inner world. I work with individuals (ages 16+), couples, and families in the pursuit of creating strong relationships and meaningful lives. My ideal client may be experiencing relationship distress, life transitions, unhealed traumas, anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, or may just feel stuck. My goal is to mix empathy and education to build a strong, trusting therapeutic relationship and help clients create the peace that they long for.

“Am I making the right choices? What do people think of me? Am I falling behind?” If these thoughts keep running through your mind, you’re not alone. A lot of people I work with feel like they’re just getting through the day, but the worry, stress, and self-doubt make it hard to really enjoy life—or even relax. You might notice your mind racing at night, replaying conversations, or imagining what could go wrong. Maybe your relationships feel tense, or you’re unsure who you really are or what you want out of life. That’s normal, and it’s something we can work through together.

Starting therapy can cause mixed emotions and finding a good fit between therapist and client is crucial. I’m an outpatient therapist, compliance director, and a clinical supervisor to those working towards licensure as a LICSW in MN. I enjoy working with adolescents and adults, especially those aged 13+. I’ve worked with various concerns and challenges over time, especially depression, anxiety, mood disorders, complex trauma, domestic violence, and those involved in the justice system. I believe therapy requires balance of acceptance and support with change, starting where the client is at to meet their individual needs.

I recognize that many of us struggle with vulnerability and openness, therefore my goal is to create a safe and nonjudgmental space. It is my honor to walk through each of my clients' journeys with them as they heal, find themselves, and refine themselves. You deserve to begin to live your authentic self. My approach to therapy is eclectic, as I believe not just one approach works for everyone. My first approach to therapy is person centered to meet you where you are at and what you need. I utilize an emotion-focused approach and psychoeducation to help you begin to process emotions that you've found too hard to do on your own. Healthy emotional and cognitive processing will help to relieve the hurt and pain you've been feeling (and likely trying to avoid).

FAQ - About Therapy for Seniors
Is one ever too old for mental health therapy?
Individuals of all ages can benefit from mental health therapy. Indeed, older adults in particular may benefit from the social and psychological support a therapist can provide; the topics that older adults address in therapy may simply differ from those of younger clients. Seniors should seek out a therapist who has experience working with older individuals and who is well-versed in addressing common concerns among elderly individuals, such as depression, anxiety, loneliness, and physical mobility challenges.

How is counseling for seniors and the elderly different from counseling for other age groups?
In general, counseling offers an opportunity for clients to process difficult life events and develop coping skills they can use outside of the therapy session. Therapists who specialize in working with elderly clients generally have the same framework but may place a special emphasis on specific topics, such as caregiver relationships and reducing loneliness. They may be specially equipped to deal with certain physical conditions or facilitate discussion surrounding end-of-life topics. Counseling for the elderly may also place a greater emphasis on social work-type topics to ensure that geriatric clients have access to necessary resources, such as food, a safe home environment, and healthcare.

How can therapy improve the quality of life of aging individuals?
Therapy for aging adults can greatly improve quality of life by providing an opportunity for them to process difficult emotions related to end-of-life, navigate relational or caregiver challenges, and develop coping skills for common mental health conditions, like anxiety or depression. Subsequent reductions in negative emotions and mental health disorder symptoms can make day-to-day living much more manageable for aging adults and those that care for them. The ongoing relationship with a trusted therapist can also help seniors combat loneliness and provide a sense of structure for their routine.

What are the qualities to look for in therapists who see seniors?
Seniors counselors, like mental health counselors in general, should be kind, empathetic, skilled at listening, and knowledgeable about their particular area of expertise. Counselors specializing in working with the senior population should be very familiar with the aging process in general and the common conditions that the elderly can face, such as dementia, depression, loneliness, and/or physical illness. Many senior counselors are also well-equipped to help caregivers and families navigate the aging process of their loved ones, and they may draw on Interpersonal Therapy to help facilitate improved interactions between seniors and those that care for them.
