I've helped many people work through difficult challenges they're facing and would like to help you too. I have a very straight forward, assertive and somewhat irreverent communication style. We work hard, bravely dig as deep as we need to and have some belly laughs along the way. My clients appreciate how real and raw it can get, they feel free to share the good, bad and the ugly. If you're ready to be a good student I am a good teacher, let's roll up our sleeves?!

You might look like you have it all together on the outside—but inside, it’s a different story. Maybe your mind won’t slow down, you replay conversations, or you feel constantly “on edge.” You’re tired of overthinking everything, but you don’t know how to stop. That’s where I come in.

I am credentialed with Cigna, Aetna, Blue Cross/ Blue Shield, Medicaid, United Healthcare, and UCare.
I became a therapist because I believe that therapy is for guys too. Maybe you're worried about how your kid is going to grow up if they can't succeed in school, or get their emotions under control; it's really hard to parent alone. As an adult, maybe someone is telling you to get your emotions under control, or maybe you just don't have the confidence that you think you should have at your age. Male loneliness has now reached new heights. I am here to tell you that it doesn't have to be this way.

I work with adolescents (ages 11-18) and young adults (ages 18-35) who feel stuck in patterns that are difficult to break. They may struggle with anxiety, depression, intrusive thoughts, compulsive behaviors, disordered eating, body image concerns, substance use, communication, and controlling their anger and emotions. Or they could be feeling the pressures of school, relationships, social media, and life as an adult. Many young men find it difficult to discuss emotions and often feel isolated or misunderstood due to social barriers. Therapy helps clients find a confidential space to build insight and develop skills to make change.

There are moments when the life we've built starts to feel like it belongs to someone else. Sometimes we can trace it back to years of managing others' moods, avoiding conflict, or silencing our own needs. Other times, it's harder to name. Whether you're navigating relationships, family, work, or patterns that keep you stuck, I offer a space to help you skillfully listen to yourself and find clarity. I bring training in somatic and attachment therapy to support your understanding of how your earliest relationships still live in your nervous system, and how you can heal.

Do you often feel like a side character in everyone else’s story instead of the main character in your own? Maybe you’re an educator, healthcare professional, or caregiver who spends so much time giving to others that you barely have anything left for yourself. Maybe you’ve entered a new decade and are starting to question who you are and where you fit now. Or maybe your mind feels like a browser with 47 tabs open and you can’t find the one playing music while everyone else seems to have it together. Regardless, you thought you’d feel better by now, and you’re ready for change. I see you! You don’t have to figure it out alone.

Does it feel like there is a heaviness that has been following you? Maybe you are successful in your career and appear as though you're thriving, even when you feel unsettled. Perhaps it feels like you wear a mask every day, giving in when you want to say “no.” You feel deeply, fear rejection, and failure is never an option. Maybe you’ve even been labeled “too sensitive,” often finding yourself people‑pleasing. Or perhaps you're going through a breakup or relationship challenges. I work with these issues, including anxiety, depression, couples counseling, grief, career stress/burnout, identity, and trauma.

It takes a lot of guts to become a therapist as a second career. But, when you are as driven, passionate, and caring as Mike, it makes sense why he did it. He’s a natural and makes his clients feel at home right from the jump.

Does insurance cover therapy, prescriptions and other behavioral health services?
In general, yes. Laws in the U.S. require insurers to cover essential behavioral health care at the same level as other health care services. Most health plans require a medical diagnosis and treatments that are evidence based and medically essential. This means that life coaching and alternative therapies are not covered, nor is therapy without a diagnosis. Call the number on the back or your insurance card or visit your insurance company's website to review your Summary of Benefits. If you have insurance through your employer, your Human Resources department may also be able to answer questions.

How much does therapy cost with insurance?
The cost of therapy depends on your region, how much training and experience your therapist has, and the type of treatment. The rate for talk therapy generally falls between $100 and $250. For a client seeing an in-network provider, the cost of therapy is often similar to the cost of other health care services. Clients pay co-pays and may need to satisfy a plan’s deductible before benefits kick in.

What is the difference between In-Network and Out-of-Network insurance coverage?
An in-network provider has contracted with an insurer to get paid directly for services, and to accept the insurer’s rate of compensation. Clients are responsible for deductibles and copays. If a therapist is out of network, that means that the client pays the therapist directly for services at the therapist’s regular fee. Out-of-Network providers often give clients a receipt so that they can file for partial reimbursement with their insurance company.

Is it difficult to find an In-Network therapist?
It is not unusual for therapists to limit the number of insurance patients in their practice, so it’s important to check in-network availability when you schedule your first appointment. In regions and times where therapy is in high demand it may take longer to get scheduled with an in-network therapist.

What is the difference between HMO and PPO insurance plans?
HMO health plans only cover in-network services, there is no reimbursement for out-of-network providers. PPO plans often cover both in- and out-of-network services, though the client may pay more for out-of-network services.

What is a Superbill?
A superbill is a receipt for therapy services. It provides all the information required by insurance companies to reimburse you for out-of-network services, including the diagnostic codes for your care, the amount paid, and the dates and duration of care.

Does insurance cover Online therapy?
Many therapists who shifted their practice to online therapy during the pandemic have kept that arrangement. And most insurers continue to cover telehealth services, with a few exceptions. Preventive care (such as an annual depression screening) is often required to be in-person to be covered, and some states require prescribers of controlled substances to see those patients in person.

Does insurance cover Group therapy?
Many insurance plans provide coverage for group therapy provided there is a medical diagnosis for group members, but there are some noteworthy exceptions. For example, Medicare does not always cover group therapy. Group therapy tends to cost less than individual therapy.

Does insurance cover Couples therapy?
Most insurance companies do not cover the cost of couples therapy because there is no medical diagnosis or medically necessary treatment. However, a few plans will offer a limited benefit, so it is still worth checking with your insurance company. Sometimes therapy is covered for a couple when one person has a diagnosis and another family member joins them for joint therapy, but it is considered therapy for the medical condition that includes a family member as a listener or helper, not couples counseling. Without insurance, most clients pay between $100-300 per 60-90 min session for couples therapy. Often clients can find classes or workshops that make it more affordable to work on their relationship. And some employers offer benefit plans that help defray the cost of couples therapy. Learn more about Insurance Coverage and Finding Affordable Therapy
