Well was created with the purpose of helping individuals, couples, and families grow independently and as a whole.  We realize that life has its challenges and can sometimes feel overwhelming and unrelenting, which may leave us feeling hopeless.  Other times life may have us feeling stuck and needing someone to walk along side us as we seek understanding.

Are you a parent who wants their child or teen to have a greater sense of self worth, increased connection and attunement with you and/or other adults, and an ability to move through the ups and downs of their emotion and thoughts with greater skill? Do you want to find a new way to be with your child and have your child be able to do the same? Has it always been difficult to parent your child, or is it a recent change and you suddenly find yourself struggling to find your north? Are you an adult who is stuck in the patterns of hopelessness and fear, and want to use mindful insight to work towards healing, growth, and change?

I am in-network with several different insurances (including Medicaid), private pay (out of pocket), and sliding fee scale based on need.
I have felt honored to serve individuals (teens/adult men/adult women) and families (specifically children and parents from birth-5, adoptive/foster caregivers, families working with county based services, or grandparents raising grandchildren) who are experiencing or have experienced traumas that have left them with feelings of attachment disconnect in relationships, struggles with their sense of identity, worth, value or self compassion, difficult/painful life transitions, or the isolation/loneliness that can come with that awful question we sometimes hear our brain ask our hearts: is it just me?

While I consider myself to be diverse in the populations I work with, I have a particular interest in working with individuals experiencing trauma, grief, difficulties with emotional regulation, and relationship issues. When trauma presents alongside loss, it can be complicated and confusing to sort through. It is my priority to ensure that your story be witnessed through a lens of compassion, curiosity, and fairness. It is my personal mission to create a non-judge mental and inviting space for every person that is looking to heal, and I believe this is accomplished primarily through creating a strong therapeutic relationship.

There are many transitions in life. Sometimes we need help navigating those transitions. My favorite quote is , "Where there is a Will there is a Way." Taking the first step with attending therapy just takes Will to find your Way. I profoundly believe in forming a strong therapeutic relationship and hope to utilize various theoretical skills to meet the unique needs of each client and their family. I enjoy working with children, adults, couples and families from all stages in life.

My main inspiration comes from working with clients to create change and overall live a more effective life. I believe it is imperative to treat all areas of who we are as a person. I address mental health concerns but also I address physical and spiritual health. Often one or all of these areas are deficient for an individual leading to an overall decrease in wellness. Clinically my approach is from a cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavioral therapy perspective. From these frameworks we can identify maladaptive behavior cycles and change them to skillful approaches bringing progression in your life.

I currently accept Aetna, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota Medicaid, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota Medicare Advantage.
You’re tired of feeling like your mind never shuts off. You replay conversations, second-guess yourself, and carry the weight of feeling “too much” or “not enough.” Some mornings it’s hard to get out of bed, and the things that once brought you joy—writing, connecting with others, even decorating your space—now feel out of reach. I help individuals who are emotionally exhausted reconnect with their creativity, enhance communication skills to advocate for self, regain confidence, and find clarity and calm again.

I first want to acknowledge the courage it takes for someone to recognize their need for help in overcoming life’s ever presenting obstacles. It can be such an intimidating and overwhelming process to ask for help, but I hope that we can work together to not only overcome those obstacles, but thrive in the face of them. With that being said, I strive to create an accepting and compassionate environment where I will meet you where you are at. I take pride in collaborating together to find what best works for you and your needs.

Does insurance cover therapy, prescriptions and other behavioral health services?
In general, yes. Laws in the U.S. require insurers to cover essential behavioral health care at the same level as other health care services. Most health plans require a medical diagnosis and treatments that are evidence based and medically essential. This means that life coaching and alternative therapies are not covered, nor is therapy without a diagnosis. Call the number on the back or your insurance card or visit your insurance company's website to review your Summary of Benefits. If you have insurance through your employer, your Human Resources department may also be able to answer questions.

How much does therapy cost with insurance?
The cost of therapy depends on your region, how much training and experience your therapist has, and the type of treatment. The rate for talk therapy generally falls between $100 and $250. For a client seeing an in-network provider, the cost of therapy is often similar to the cost of other health care services. Clients pay co-pays and may need to satisfy a plan’s deductible before benefits kick in.

What is the difference between In-Network and Out-of-Network insurance coverage?
An in-network provider has contracted with an insurer to get paid directly for services, and to accept the insurer’s rate of compensation. Clients are responsible for deductibles and copays. If a therapist is out of network, that means that the client pays the therapist directly for services at the therapist’s regular fee. Out-of-Network providers often give clients a receipt so that they can file for partial reimbursement with their insurance company.

Is it difficult to find an In-Network therapist?
It is not unusual for therapists to limit the number of insurance patients in their practice, so it’s important to check in-network availability when you schedule your first appointment. In regions and times where therapy is in high demand it may take longer to get scheduled with an in-network therapist.

What is the difference between HMO and PPO insurance plans?
HMO health plans only cover in-network services, there is no reimbursement for out-of-network providers. PPO plans often cover both in- and out-of-network services, though the client may pay more for out-of-network services.

What is a Superbill?
A superbill is a receipt for therapy services. It provides all the information required by insurance companies to reimburse you for out-of-network services, including the diagnostic codes for your care, the amount paid, and the dates and duration of care.

Does insurance cover Online therapy?
Many therapists who shifted their practice to online therapy during the pandemic have kept that arrangement. And most insurers continue to cover telehealth services, with a few exceptions. Preventive care (such as an annual depression screening) is often required to be in-person to be covered, and some states require prescribers of controlled substances to see those patients in person.

Does insurance cover Group therapy?
Many insurance plans provide coverage for group therapy provided there is a medical diagnosis for group members, but there are some noteworthy exceptions. For example, Medicare does not always cover group therapy. Group therapy tends to cost less than individual therapy.

Does insurance cover Couples therapy?
Most insurance companies do not cover the cost of couples therapy because there is no medical diagnosis or medically necessary treatment. However, a few plans will offer a limited benefit, so it is still worth checking with your insurance company. Sometimes therapy is covered for a couple when one person has a diagnosis and another family member joins them for joint therapy, but it is considered therapy for the medical condition that includes a family member as a listener or helper, not couples counseling. Without insurance, most clients pay between $100-300 per 60-90 min session for couples therapy. Often clients can find classes or workshops that make it more affordable to work on their relationship. And some employers offer benefit plans that help defray the cost of couples therapy. Learn more about Insurance Coverage and Finding Affordable Therapy
