My education, training and clinical experience has focused on attachment, trauma & abuse (child & adult), parenting , depression, anxiety, behavioral issues and grief/loss.
In today's world, many of us feel bombarded by increasing demands, fewer resources, and interactions that leave us feeling unfulfilled. I provide a relationship and space of understanding, respect and learning. When working with adults, my approach is to explore together the areas in life that feel stuck, hopeless, or painful and create strategies towards fulfillment and improved wellbeing. My goal working with children/youth is for them to feel more grounded, safe, and secure, so they can experience the natural resilience and healing power of relationships and be connected to their whole self.

I enjoy helping women of any age utilize their strengths to find hope and courage in redefining themselves to step into a higher level of their own power.

I counsel individuals, families and couples in private practice and facilitate parent education classes and grief and loss support groups.
I consider it a privilege to hear your story and to collaborate with you to identify and encourage possible steps toward a more peaceful and satisfying life and relationships. My past experience with children and families in churches, in culturally diverse schools, and in supervised court-ordered visits between nonresidential parents and their children has equipped me to help children and parents with behavioral issues, resulting individual or marital stress, and issues of loss -- death, divorce, disasters and disappointment.

I work with pregnancy, birth issues, infant mental health, post-partum, and parenting .
It is my experience that the fullest, most satisfying healing involves our whole person, mind, body, and spirit. By focusing on patterns of movement in the body as well as thinking, we work together to achieve your goals for therapy. A body based and energetic focus is often a new and effective way for people to resolve issues that only talking about them did not reach. I look for resistance and protective actions that no longer serve a person. I emphasize developing aliveness in the body, feeling joyful, free, and peace.

Currently I am not taking any new clients. I provide psychotherapy to adolescents and adults seeking to address a variety of concerns. I have a strong commitment to collaboration and empowerment so that individuals can utilize their strengths to help shape the healing process. I value maintaining strong working relationships as well as offering a mind - body approach. I help clients identify existing patterns that work as well as patterns that may have worked in the past but are not working now. We work together to find healthy patterns that fit each client's needs, and meet their goals.

Life can be hard. You may worry too much. Maybe you have difficulty finding the energy to do what you need to do. Or saying things that you regret later. When these things happen, you may forget how to draw on your strengths and capabilities to make things different for yourself. Parenting Therapists

What does therapy for parenting look like?

Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?

When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?

Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?

Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
