I find a great deal of professional joy in seeing others grow to embrace and integrate the best parts of themselves. I most enjoy working with someone who endeavors to explore the part of themselves that has gone unappreciated or untended and which they want to grow. So often we are molded into a person by our environment and experiences that, at times, can be difficult to recognize. I am eager to support you in exploring this best version of yourself!

I work from an integrated approach, incorporating mindfulness to help people achieve a more connected mind, body & spirit.
I am passionate about helping you heal & grow. I provide a comfortable, non-judgmental & supportive atmosphere where you can process difficult emotions, gain awareness of what keeps you suffering, & integrate newfound insights to bring relief. I am sensitive to the ways your past experiences & future anxieties impact your present. When traumatic events or unexpressed feelings are left unattended we can become identified with these states and depression, anxiety, substance abuse, relationship problems and self-sabotage can arise. It can be difficult to make changes & overcome obstacles without support, new tools or insight.

1 virtual opening on Mondays starting in Sept! Do you ever find yourself irritated at little things, or the people close to you? Do you find yourself constantly worried, or discouraged by everyday life? Therapy can be a scary thing to consider, but my goal is to help you be the best version of yourself with a little support and encouragement! I use cognitive behavioral strategies mixed with brain & body education so my patients have a better understanding of how and why they may react to things in life that seem automatic and how they can take charge and re-direct these unhelpful reactions to feel more successful in life.

We are created for connection. All of us are searching for meaning, purpose and belonging. We are made to be in relationships with each other. Our relationships provide an opportunity for life's greatest joy and greatest heartache. All of us experience the brokenness of our world and fall short of relational wholeness. Each of us a unique combination of biology and experience, which results in unique challenges, vulnerabilities, strengths, and hopes. I believe everyone has the insight, ability, and potential to thrive in our human experience and sustain a meaningful life.

Nikhat (knee-cot) has a super positive vibe about her. She’s one of those people that lifts people’s spirits simply by her being in their orbit. Honestly, she’s pretty dang awesome. Have you ever met someone who just radiates positivity? That’s Nikhat. She’s just one of those people that everyone likes. And, let us tell you why. First, she is very engaged with her clients, and what she puts her mind to. She’s not a therapist who will just sit there, nod her head, and say “uh-huh”. Instead, she get’s right into the thick of things with her clients.

Mindfulness-Based (MBCT) Therapists

How does mindfulness-based cognitive therapy work?

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy originated in the work of John Kabat-Zinn of the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He developed mindfulness-based stress reduction, which is a technique found in yoga and meditation. MBCT is a combination of this type of stress reduction and cognitive behavioral therapy; it essentially quiets emotional distress through mindfulness, utilizing proper breathing and meditation. These techniques aim to bring the individual into the present moment when in a state of distress.

When do I know if I need treatment with mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?

If an individual’s mind is filled with emotional distress and general negativity, the person may feel trapped. A mindfulness-based cognitive therapist can help a person change their thinking patterns as well as their behavior through calm acceptance and compassion. This therapy can provide an individual with the coping skills needed for a healthier and more constructive life.

What should I expect from mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?

This therapy often takes place in group sessions. A therapist will work with the group as well as with each individual. Meditation and breathing exercises are core practices that aim to invite inquiry and discovery into a person’s troubled mental state. The objective is to identify and lessen negative thoughts and behaviors and move toward optimal health and productivity. The individual will see life in a more realistic way. This therapy is supportive, accepting, and warm.

Is mindfulness-based cognitive therapy effective?

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy is evidence-based and effective. One study found that people with major depressive disorder have benefitted from this type of therapy; the person accepts their distressed thoughts and also moves into healthier patterns of thinking. This therapy also aims to move an individual away from automatic negative responses. This type of therapy can bring a person lifelong change, with higher levels of satisfaction, less stress, as well as positive emotional and behavioral habits.
