I appreciate working with a variety of folks! I especially enjoy young adults (early 20's-30's), and older adults (mid 60's and up). I love to help folks find their way in the world, cope with life changes, and connect with their own wisdom. My clients are often creatives, grievers, LGBTQ+, neurodivergent, and meaning makers.

I work with adults who are experiencing grief/loss, anxiety, depression, and life transitions (involving the loss of a loved one, troubling medical news, or anything that requires finding a “new normal”).
Are events in your life leaving you feeling lost or on shaky ground? Do you feel stuck as a result of things happening outside of your control? So often this leads folks to feel overwhelmed and at a loss of hope. Sound familiar? You’re not alone. I strive to create a non-judgmental space where you can discuss experiences and process emotions with the central goal of reaching a new level of insight. With new insight comes new solutions. I respect the experience of my clients and understand the extent to which trauma can complicate how a person sees themselves and their place within the world.

Hi there! I’m so glad you’re considering therapy, a brave first step in itself. I enjoy working with adult and emerging adult populations, and I have a particular affinity for working with emerging adults and college/grad students. I believe that a large part of healing happens in relationship with others, and I’m here to build a collaborative partnership with you where together we can create a path towards a more fulfilling life. I use a person-centered, interpersonal, & psychodynamic approach to therapy, while remaining adaptive to the unique needs of each client. I look forward to hearing what brings you here.

I have worked with kids, teens, adults , new parents, empty nesters, etc.
So, it's come to this. You've been told by someone important to you (or maybe a stranger at the gas station) that you need to do more than just binge watch Korean comedies on Netflix or take up a hobby, like knitting or wood carving. Or maybe you just realized you want more support. So here you are. The good news is therapy is for everyone! Surprise! And I'm only going to say this a half dozen times: Therapy is far less expensive than the amount of knitting one may need to do in order to process their shit. So welcome! You are here.

A strong therapeutic relationship can support your goals to improve relationships, learn to be regulated and live a more fulfilled life. I do this by encouraging open communication and healthy boundaries, providing psychoeducational support, processing emotional issues and trauma and teaching the art and science of mindfulness. I provide psychotherapy to adolescents and adults who may be experiencing behavioral and emotional issues, depression, anxiety, trauma and relational issues. I will bring intensity and humor to the dynamic therapeutic relationship. Relationships are important, perhaps more now than ever!

I especially welcome families or individuals navigating growth and change; parents of children with chronic health needs; couples seeking greater connection in their relationship; or individual adults seeking body-centered care for trauma, anxiety, or depression.

Life can be hard and when it is you may feel alone, but you don't have to be. Have you felt anxious, overwhelmed, sad, hopeless, or angry? Do you or your child have trouble concentrating on one thing at a time? Do you ever wonder what is happening to my child? Have you wondered where are all of these feelings coming from? Or, do you just want to talk to someone who will listen? If you have answered yes to any of these questions I can help you. I will offer you a safe space to work through all of those feelings.

I work with adults who are struggling with a variety of mental health and life challenges.
Life can be challenging and many of us often struggle with racing thoughts, anxiety, depression, or we just simply feel like we can't move through pain from our past or a current life struggle. Sometimes what we need can simply be a safe space to talk, process, and to heal.

How can I find a therapist in Golden Valley?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or postcode; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or postcode into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In Canada, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist, psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
