For 16 years I have supported folks with mental health conditions and
substance use
disorders.
Have you made significant changes in your life but find yourself stuck in old patterns? Are you in recovery from drugs or alcohol or disordered eating, but still find yourself struggling in other ways? My Name is Kelle Kirk and I help folks in recovery STAY in recovery. Many of us have found out that cutting out the drinking or drugging or changing our relationship to food or our bodies did not "fix" everything; in some ways, maybe we found things to be more intense or complicated in this new landscape. You have come so far and made such progress, let's work on the being human and helping you learn to do something different.

Choosing a therapist that is a good fit for your specific needs, values, and methods for change can be challenging. There needs to be a comfort level and fit that will foster a positive and effective working relationship. The therapist's education, experience, competency, and certification, are essential to promoting positive outcomes. I have been working with women, men, couples, and families for 20+ years and have learned so much from clients regarding their concerns, hopes, dreams, and methods of change. My approach is Collaborative, Strengths-Based, and Solution-Focused.

Life is hard and often not fair at times. We seek therapy to feel heard, validated and find ways to move through our pain. I work with a broad range of individuals, couple's and families. My passion is helping those with relational issues, developmental trauma,
substance use
as well as eating disorders. I will work with individuals (13+). I love working with transplants as I understand the complexities of moving to another part of the country and not knowing the culture. My goal is to help you find yourself, that internal voice that tells you, "you are worthy, you are enough."

Making the choice to start therapy is not always an easy task and requires a lot of courage to ask for help. Whether your suffering stems from
substance use
issues, loss, relationship concerns, anxiety, depression, or low self-esteem, know that you are not alone. We all are trying to do the best we can to take care of ourselves but sometimes that can fall short. The good news is, therapy provides the space to reflect on old patterns, behaviors, and begin to ask ourselves, "Is this working for me anymore?" If the answer is no, let's take a look at it.

I believe that every person has an emotional, mental, physical and spiritual life that needs to be supported and nurtured. The path to emotional healing occurs through a collaborative approach focused on enhancing personal strengths and reconnection to oneself with an increased capacity for self-acceptance and compassion. I enjoy working with people of all ages and backgrounds and have experience working with individuals, couples, and groups in treatment centers and outpatient clinics. I collaborate with my clients, providing person-centered, evidence-based treatment for mental health and
substance use
disorders. Often, life experiences lead us to believe that we are incapable, flawed, or unworthy. While we cannot change what has happened in the past, we can create new meaning from our experiences. We can direct our path forward, utilizing our strengths, embracing who we want to be, and living a fulfilling life that reflects our values.

I work with an amazing team at ALL IN Therapy that approaches treatment from a holistic mindset. Working nine-to-five doesn't mean there isn't time to prioritize your mental health. I'm a "night-owl therapist" and am available from 11 AM through 9 PM on weekdays. I want to ensure that therapy can integrate seamlessly into your life without disrupting it, whether you work daytime hours, are a student, or just feel more comfortable talking with someone after a long day rather than during it. We'll work together to find ways to manage your concerns so you can find more stability, passion, meaning, and peace in your life.

I provide support in finding your voice, getting yourself rooted authenticity and learning how to hold on to yourself in relationships. Not having a strong sense of who you are can make you feel small but as Brené Brown says, "do not shrink, do not puff up, stand your sacred ground." Together we will explore your own strength though practices of self-discovery and personal empowerment. Whether you're in a relationship or single and looking, we'll work together so you can feel secure as your own person. Healthy and happy relationships depend on a healthy and happy you!

I understand the concerns very well, professionally and personally, and I can help orient you, figure out where you want things to be, and help you develop a plan to get there.

I feel very good that I can meet people where they are no matter what, because I too have been many places. When issues arise in our lives, I find they can be opportunities to learn and to heal. My therapy is affirming, yet challenging, radically accepting, yet moving for change. Our conflicts, collisions and issues that bring us in for therapy are indications of deep wounds and/or beliefs about ourselves that need some kind of attention. Come on in and let's talk it through. I have extensive experience with trauma, addictions and abuse, anxiety and depression, sexual and gender identity, and spirituality.

Substance Use Therapists
How do substance and drug recovery or rehabilitation programs work?
In inpatient programs, individuals live in a facility with other clients in recovery; in outpatient programs, individuals reside at home. These facilities are staffed with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, psychologists, counselors, and psychotherapists. Staff often also includes people who have recovered themselves, serving as mentors and guides. These programs may use abstinence, harm reduction, detoxification, psychotherapy, and other methods.
How do 12-step programs combined with psychotherapy work?
Members of 12-step programs help each other reach abstinence and work to maintain it. These programs promote complete change in the individual’s emotional, mental, physical, and even spiritual perspectives. Some programs require that new members attend 90 meetings in 90 days. Many people do attend these programs in conjunction with their work in psychotherapy; the combination of therapy along with 12-step can be extremely effective.
How does harm reduction combined with psychotherapy work?
According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, harm reduction prevents death, injury, disease, overdose, and substance misuse. People who choose harm reduction for substance use reduce the amount of drugs they consume. It is not abstinence-based like a 12-step program, but combining harm reduction with psychotherapy proves to be effective for many people.
Are there specific medications for substance and drug use?
There are medications approved to treat substance use disorder—such as buprenorphine, methadone, naltrexone, and acamprosate. These medications do help people cope with substance use as well as avoid the problem of relapse. Naltrexone can help reduce cravings, methadone is an opioid medication used to treat severe pain, and acamprosate may help ease symptoms like poor sleep and anxious feelings.
