I have the honor of working with people experiencing a wide variety of concerns including: depression; anxiety; grief/loss; life transitions; chronic illness; postpartum depression; sexual abuse; relationship problems; low self-esteem; family of origin; stress and more. My relational approach is based on the belief that within the framework of a trusting relationship with a therapist, clients can explore patterns of behavior and emotions which may relate back to earlier relationships. Once a better understanding of the origins of these patterns is developed, people often find lasting freedom from their hold over their lives.

Evening and weekend appts; free consultations. Having faced pain and challenges in my own life, I am deeply invested in what's possible in therapy. I understand how intimidating and stressful it can be to find a therapist and begin. For now, I want you to know I am warm, calm, compassionate, non-judgmental, and direct, and take a collaborative and holistic approach. I work with individuals, couples, families, highly sensitive people, and also with one person on issues in a relationship, including midlife crisis and infidelity. If you need a new approach, a way forward, relief, support, or healing, I would love to help.

There are so many times in our lives when we are asked to adapt. Whether it's transitioning to a new school or job, changing relationships, parenting through different stresses and stages, managing Anxiety or Depression so that you can best enjoy your life, or just figuring out who you are and how you want to be in this world. Participating in therapy almost always means change, and I enjoy supporting people as they explore this change, learn new strategies, and work to grow.

Sometimes we find ourselves struggling, and it seems that no matter how hard we try, we cannot seem to find a way out on our own. It can be difficult to seek help, and I believe that a collaborative, trusting, and empathic therapeutic relationship serves as the foundation for clients to experience meaningful growth and healing. I provide therapy to adults, children, couples, and families. Some of my specialties include working with adults recovering from trauma; facing relationship issues; or suffering from anxiety or depression. I also often work with children struggling with anxiety, perfectionism, or life transitions.

Working with Abbie is a total game-changer. She’s super passionate about her clients and really goes above and beyond. She genuinely cares about her clients and you can see it in how much they dig working with her. Abbie’s super power is that she really can see her clients. She pays great attention, is able to read in between the lines, and gets to the core your concerns. Her initial goal is to truly understand where you are in life, how you got there, where you are stuck, and what you need to get to where you want to go.

You’re feeling stuck and overwhelmed, and maybe you've been feeling this way for a while. Though some things may shift temporarily, you eventually find yourself back in the same patterns. You could be thinking, “Is this just how life is going to be?” or you’ve said “once this event or experience is complete things will get better” however, it's complete now and you're still feeling the same. If this sounds like you, then I’m here to tell you it doesn’t have to be this way. If you’re ready to make lasting changes, I’m here to help. I believe in your ability to heal, grow and live a life you find fulfilling.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist, psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
