Immediate openings available, schedule online now! My ideal client is someone who’s ready to learn new skills and make changes in their lives. I believe the core benefit of therapy is working to get off “auto-pilot” by improving mindfulness and awareness of automatic thoughts. Once mindfulness is improved, we can work together to change distorted thoughts into something more rational/realistic. I seek to help you feel more regulated, or calm, when strong emotions present themselves.

Play, mindfulness , and other strategies will help your child learn to identify feelings, improve self-regulation, and appreciate himself/herself more.
** Please contact me if you would like to be placed on a waiting list.** As your child approaches the door, do you wonder how today went? Do you worry the school will call or that she held it together and will "lose it" at home? Is your child struggling most days? Does he or she have difficulty with managing emotions, focusing, making friends, worries, or fears. Does he or she often look sad or worried? Is your once engaging child withdrawn, angry, or argumentative? You've tried everything you know and are at a loss to help. Does nothing seems to work? Perhaps you feel like a failure as a parent. You don't have to do this alone.

I have training in EMDR, Adaptive Internal Relational Network Model, Post Induction Therapy (Relational Trauma), Experiential Therapy and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction.
I believe that most destructive beliefs and behaviors are rooted in the less than nurturing events we experience over the course of our life. Welcome to the human condition! Many of us can benefit from learning how to manage our human experience in healthier, constructive ways that promote growth and personal evolution. I believe in utilizing the brain's neuroplasticity and activating our innate capacity to heal to increase and strengthen positive, growth inspiring beliefs and behaviors.

I incorporate the latest in neuroscience research and pull from relational psychotherapy, mindfulness , psychodynamic, interpersonal neurobiology and cognitive-behavioral therapies.
Life is difficult. Feeling better is possible. We all have the right and the ability to feel some peace and acceptance about our lives; the things we can control and the things we can not. We may often believe the negative thoughts we have (that we often make up) and act accordingly. You can change your life, your outlook and the way you think and feel about yourself and your relationships. I believe changes and growth occur when an individual is able to challenge their thoughts, examine their perspectives and learn how to be true to themselves.

I enjoy working with individuals who are interested in improving their emotional, psychological, and physical health. Often times, stressors and demands can take a toll on your emotional and physical health and lead to anxiety, depression, anger, and physical consequences, such as problems with sleep and eating. I believe that the use of cognitive behavioral, mindfulness , psychodynamic, and interpersonal interventions are useful in this process. I also strive to build a genuine therapeutic relationship that helps you to feel supported and safe as you explore areas of concern and work toward growth and healing.

It is my passion and honor to come alongside you in your healing journey. My specialities include working with empaths and codependents on self-care and creating healthy boundaries, stress relief, anxiety, life adjustments, grief/loss, weight issues, women's issues, and trauma. I am a Licensed Psychologist with over 20 years of experience. After many years of providing traditional talk therapy, I realized that true healing needed to incorporate both the mind AND the body. One method I use to help people reduce stress and regain balance in their lives is mindfulness meditation.

I have training in many forms of therapy; including emotionally-focused therapy, mindfulness and existentially-based approaches, and trauma processing therapies like ART.
You may be feeling overwhelmed by emotions, struggling at work or in your relationships, having difficulty reaching a meaningful goal, or are struggling to find direction or purpose in your life. After a series of challenges, you may notice that your old coping strategies are not working in the ways you expect, and you are interested in a new perspective and tools. My clients seek and discover new understanding of themselves, their emotional reactions, and their values through the process of therapy. Many of my clients also seek out support to alleviate trauma symptoms using Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART).

Whether you want to work on healing traumatic events, feel energetically drained, need emotional support, want to use an integrative mental health therapy or just need some time to experience mindfulness and release stress, art therapy can assist in your healing journey. Creating art promotes emotional awareness, reflection and processing of life experiences, and the beauty of using art therapeutically is that previous art experience is not required. I'm glad to work with clients who have never made art, or make it every day.

Mindfulness-Based (MBCT) Therapists

How does mindfulness-based cognitive therapy work?

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy originated in the work of John Kabat-Zinn of the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He developed mindfulness-based stress reduction, which is a technique found in yoga and meditation. MBCT is a combination of this type of stress reduction and cognitive behavioral therapy; it essentially quiets emotional distress through mindfulness, utilizing proper breathing and meditation. These techniques aim to bring the individual into the present moment when in a state of distress.

When do I know if I need treatment with mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?

If an individual’s mind is filled with emotional distress and general negativity, the person may feel trapped. A mindfulness-based cognitive therapist can help a person change their thinking patterns as well as their behavior through calm acceptance and compassion. This therapy can provide an individual with the coping skills needed for a healthier and more constructive life.

What should I expect from mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?

This therapy often takes place in group sessions. A therapist will work with the group as well as with each individual. Meditation and breathing exercises are core practices that aim to invite inquiry and discovery into a person’s troubled mental state. The objective is to identify and lessen negative thoughts and behaviors and move toward optimal health and productivity. The individual will see life in a more realistic way. This therapy is supportive, accepting, and warm.

Is mindfulness-based cognitive therapy effective?

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy is evidence-based and effective. One study found that people with major depressive disorder have benefitted from this type of therapy; the person accepts their distressed thoughts and also moves into healthier patterns of thinking. This therapy also aims to move an individual away from automatic negative responses. This type of therapy can bring a person lifelong change, with higher levels of satisfaction, less stress, as well as positive emotional and behavioral habits.
