Given my previous career as a business executive, I am particularly adept at providing
coaching
and counseling services to those undergoing work, family, and
life
transitions.
I serve as a counselor, coach and consultant to individuals, couples, families seeking to make change. My approach is integrative insofar as I utilize practices from different approaches depending on what works for the client and what can be scientifically validated from the field of neuroscience; the work may involve verbal and/or somatic interventions to address problems and opportunities. I consider validation or empathy to be an important foundation for the work. Insight and awareness can also be critical; however, I also stress the need to try new actions to break old patterns that no longer work but are known and familiar.

Life
can be incredibly difficult. Even though you may look like you've got it all together, you feel like nobody sees the real you, the person that you want to be. You can't quite put your finger on it, but
life
just isn't as satisfying as you know it could be. Or maybe you’ve been bogged down by circumstances that keep you from moving forward. You haven’t been able to identify what you want your
life
to be all about. It isn’t easy to live a
life
that feels unrealized.

I enjoy working with people that are motivated and active in therapy. Whether the issue is at work, in a relationship, or how you think or feel about things, we can move through it with honesty, laughter, and grace. I also enjoy working with couples because a lot of change can come from partners working through issues together. Relationships are really hard so helping people navigate through the rough patches, while reinforcing the good, is especially rewarding. I also like working with teens, because we can intervene early. I think we can help teens avoid unnecessary pain later in
life
, if we teach them skills now.

In practice for 42 years, have lived my own
life
as learning to work with others.
I believe people are basically competent, come to therapy because their usual coping skills are not working with problems. I am actively involved: therapy is a working partnership in which we review all your clues and then find solutions that fit for your specific needs. I believe in the healing qualities of relationships. I have trained in Pia Mellody's PIT Model to work with people in recovery from childhood trauma, addictions and relationship problems who are struggling with anxiety, depression and other emotional stresses. I am currently only accepting private pay for new clients.

Through the use of a compassionate application of scientific principles and intuitive intelligence, we can change the way you experience
life
.
My personal philosophy and professional approach to therapy is based on the belief that when therapeutic objectives are developed collaboratively between the client and therapist, there will be greater productivity and ultimate success of the treatment. The methodologies and theoretical applications that I use are a conglomerate of tools based on extensive academic training in health psychology, which includes the scientific study of the bio-chemical and neuro-physiological processes of the human brain & body and its effect on emotions, thoughts, perception and behavior; and furthermore incorporates the use of cognitive-behavioral, psycho-analytical, object relations, multi-cultural and humanistic perspectives.

My strenghts lie in my ability to provide a safe and supportive experience to explore and work through, oftentimes, vulnerable issues that create barriers to a richer
life
.
I believe that people need a therapist who has the ability to understand their experience. Once a person has the experience of being understood, a foundation is established to work through more vulnerable and difficult material. It is this proces of establishing a safe and understanding experience and working through of material that allows the possibility of change and the realization of one's true self and potentials.

Life Coaching Therapists
What can I expect from life coaching?
Clients and coaches will typically start by identifying the problem area(s) that the client hopes to address—then, the coach will help the client brainstorm potential solutions and explore concrete techniques to help the client attain their goals. Coaching is typically short-term and focused on finding solutions in the here and now, rather than exploring a client’s past. In addition to strategies aimed at the client’s specific concerns, coaches may encourage general stress management techniques such as meditation.
Can a life coach help treat anxiety?
Because the majority of life coaches are not licensed clinicians, they are not qualified to diagnose or treat anxiety. Anyone struggling with anxiety or another mental health condition should seek help from a licensed mental health practitioner. However, some coaching clients who struggle with subclinical anxiety report that working with their coach on other problems—such as career dissatisfaction or unhealthy habits—has a positive effect on their anxiety.
Can life coaching be done online?
Yes. While life coaching often happens in person, many coaches conduct sessions over the phone or via online platforms such as Zoom or Skype. Because life coaches are not subject to local licensing regulations in the same way that therapists are, they are able to see clients who live in other locations.
How long does life coaching last?
Life coaching tends to be a shorter-term process than therapy, though it does not always unfold over a specific period of time and is instead based on the coach’s or the client’s preferences. Coaching often takes place over three to 12 months but may be shorter or longer if necessary.
