I believe that therapy is not an easy process to begin or to say with over time. I have been a therapist for over 20 years and before that worked for 12 years as an alcohol and drug counselor. I work from a cognitive behavioral therapy perspective and believe that people come to therapy because they have tried every solution they know to make there life better. I believe therapy works best in an atmosphere of respect and trust, that people come to therapy because they want to make there life better in some way.

Clients often come with symptoms of anxiety, depression, trauma, overwhelming
anger
or experiences of abuse, self-harm, relationship distress, questions about identity or a desire for greater meaning in life.
I offer therapy to individuals, couples and families who want a welcoming, safe place to process what is happening within or among them. From clients, I learn how they see the world, how they understand themselves, what patterns create their interactions, and where they want to go from here. Clients are empowered to determine their goals and create new perspectives on themselves and the world around them. The hope is that, during sessions, clients will gain new skills and thought patterns for the benefit of the relationships that give their lives meaning.

We hold trauma, grief, loss, and painful memories in our minds and bodies. If these issues aren't healed and released, they come out in painful and often destructive ways: Depression, anxiety, relationship issues,
anger
, struggles with parenting, substance abuse, isolation, fear, etc. People often feel "stuck" in these issues and are caught in cycles that are difficult to break free. These destructive and painful cycles can be broken and you can be enabled to thrive personally and in your relationships.

anger
, and grief.
I work with an amazing team at ALL IN Therapy that approaches treatment from a holistic mindset. Working nine-to-five doesn't mean there isn't time to prioritize your mental health. I'm a "night-owl therapist" and am available from 11 AM through 9 PM on weekdays. I want to ensure that therapy can integrate seamlessly into your life without disrupting it, whether you work daytime hours, are a student, or just feel more comfortable talking with someone after a long day rather than during it. We'll work together to find ways to manage your concerns so you can find more stability, passion, meaning, and peace in your life.

I imagine many things in your life are going well, but there are a certain things you think, feel, or do that you just wish you didn't think, feel or do. Maybe you get anxious or angry when you feel criticized. Maybe you shut down and lose motivation when faced with a difficult task. Or maybe it's something else and it's getting in the way of you being yourself, and feeling comfortable at home, at school, or at work. You've tried lots of ways to manage your these thoughts or feelings, but they don't seem to calm down. It's like something takes over, filling you with anxiety, sadness, fear,
anger
or something else.

I serve adults, families, and children (ages 4-18) with a variety of challenges. I help men and women handle breakups or relationship difficulties, cope with being single, navigate dating, create healthy relationships, manage
anger
/ frustration, deal with depression, explore adoptee issues, and adapt to change or loss. I serve families with children who are pushing boundaries, fighting with or blaming others, worrying excessively, yelling/talking back, lacking appropriate social skills or have poor self-esteem. I also work with adoptive families who are concerned about their adopted child's "problem" behaviors, difficulties adjusting, or challenges in connecting with others.

I conduct the following types of psychological evaluations: ADHD, General Mental Health/Diagnostic,
Anger
Assessments, Pre-surgical Psychological Evaluations, and Court-Ordered Evaluations.
Are you contemplating therapy? Asking yourself if you really need it? The decision to participate in therapy is very personal and rarely straightforward. The majority of clients I work with are competent, well-functioning individuals who are struggling in some way or are feeling dissatisfied, unhappy, or stuck. Whether it's regarding a past experience, your everyday life, your relationship, fears about the future, or something more devastating or extraordinary, therapy can help.

I have worked with children and adults with ADHD,
anger
, self-harm, loss, relationship struggles, behavioral struggles, and parenting.
Life can be hard and when it is you may feel alone, but you don't have to be. Have you felt anxious, overwhelmed, sad, hopeless, or angry? Do you or your child have trouble concentrating on one thing at a time? Do you ever wonder what is happening to my child? Have you wondered where are all of these feelings coming from? Or, do you just want to talk to someone who will listen? If you have answered yes to any of these questions I can help you. I will offer you a safe space to work through all of those feelings.

Anger Management Therapists
How long does therapy take for anger management?
Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.
How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?
Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.
Is there medication for anger management?
Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.
What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
