My specialty is helping people with " ADHD ," anxiety, depression and/or medical conditions exacerbated by stress learn to regulate their brain/body better.
I use Cognitive Behavior Therapy, biofeedback and neurofeedback to help people , including reducing or eliminating the need for medications. I work with Liz Nash, MA, LMFT, AT-RBC and Brenda Hightshoe, MA, LPCC. We treat anxiety, depression, ADHD , autism, traumatic brain injury and learning disabilities. CBT helps you create adaptive thinking. We use quantitative EEG "brain mapping" with the Neuroguide normative database to help see why people have the problems they're having. Quantitative EEG "targets" training with neurofeedback, which helps clients learn to pay attention without drugs, relax, and feel more like themselves.

My goal is to help every child, adolescent, and/or young adult touched by ADHD navigate through their specific challenges, and find their unique areas of brilliance. I have been practicing as a child and adolescent psychologist for over twenty years. I work closely with youth, parents, educators, and families. One of my primary areas of expertise is neuropsychological testing, which has given me great insight into how children and adolescents learn. I founded my own organization, ADHD &U, in 2019 after writing a book about raising my own son with ADHD (Raising Will: Surviving the Brilliance and Blues of ADHD ).

I particularly enjoy assessing for adult ADHD , since a well-substantiated diagnosis can make such a difference with career and relationships.
It can be hard to know whether your child's struggles are because of poor organizational skills, issues with attention, a learning disability, or mood/anxiety difficulties. This is where I come in: giving you an accurate and nuanced understanding of what is going on and how to treat it. I provide comprehensive and individualized evaluation to help you understand your child's strengths and weaknesses, get to the "why" underneath, and sort out what is typical and what is cause for concern. As a former classroom teacher, I make practical recommendations that translate into your child being more academically successful immediately.

Psychological testing-- ADD / ADHD , learning disorders (LD), pre-adoption, pre-bariatric surgery psych evaluations.
I imagine you're seeking a psychotherapist for counseling because you hope to make some important changes. Success working with a psychologist depends on you feeling comfortable engaging in a collaborative manner with her. Some therapy sessions may be difficult as you ask important questions about yourself, how you function in the world. As you proceed, you may experience frustration, confusion, anxiety, self-doubt and/or conflicted feelings, but at the end of your psychotherapy you'll most likely have learned something new to help you with the concerns that brought you in to seek psychological treatment.

ADHD Therapists
Some children and adults with ADHD find it difficult to concentrate on tasks at school or work and may daydream frequently. Children with ADHD may become disruptive, defiant, or have trouble getting along with parents, peers, or teachers. Children who struggle with hyperactivity and impulsivity, in particular, often have behavioral challenges that can be difficult for adults to manage. Adults, on the other hand, may be more likely to report feeling restless or fidgety; if they struggle with impulsivity, they may make rash decisions that adversely affect their life. For both children and adults, executive functioning (planning, emotional regulation, and decision-making) is often affected as well. Many children and adults display either hyperactive or inattentive symptoms of ADHD, but it’s also possible for both sets of symptoms to exist together, in what is typically called combined type ADHD.
